The Writer’s Conflict – Clash of the Quotes
The inspiration just won’t come
Surely I’m not the only one
Let’s turn to the greats for advice
There I should find something nice
A classic quote from Mr. Thoreau
An essayist, poet, and philosopher too
A Harvard College education
Plus much more I haven’t mentioned
So what’s his advice for me to do
“Write while the heat is in you”
My heat has cooled down indeed
Perhaps a break is what I need
But wait, a new quote, from Stephen King
A writer indeed above all things
His books are a favourite, his advice is a must
He is certainly a voice I would trust
So what’s his advice for me to do
I guess it’s something I already knew
“Just get up and go to work”
Get on with it, I think with a smirk
Fingers to keyboard I begin to type
The classic or conventional which is right
This is my creation, I’ll let you judge
But it was the King that provided me that nudge.

The pleasure was all mine. Discovering new quotes is like opening a box of sweets!

They are wonderful, aren’t they? I love using them! They usually guide how my writing goes. 🙂

I used to run an event at my county office for students to respond to famous inspiring quotes and write an essay. These were judged and the best essays went on to a state competition. It was a great opportunity for high school students to practice using quotes.

My gosh, I love this idea. You were kind enough to visit my blog and comment on a photography post so I wanted to return the favor. So glad to meet you and to discover the WQWWC challenge. I am struggling to do an index card a day with Denyse and daisyyellowart.com, https://daisyyellowart.com/vividlife/icad-2021-index. Thinking maybe combining these projects might help inspire me!!
Enjoyed your poem. It is hard to write when the passion or heat of doing so has gone cold. I think of things I want to write and explore but if I don’t sit down and start the moment I am inspired, I lose the fire or spark. Need to have a little pad where I can jot thoughts instantly.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Your project sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you can find a way to mesh the challenges together. I try to do several challenges at the same time when I can. My friends Terri at Sunday Stills Cee Neuner, who has a ton of challenges, are really awesome at participating in everyone’s challenges. She’s all over the place. I stopped by your website. It looks like these are a product.
