Welcome to Always Write

Monthly Wrap-ups

Guiding Words of the Year (WOTY)

  • 2024 WOTY is INSPIRING I have a list of 9 categories and numerous topics to inspire my Wednesday Quote Challenge (WQ) 2024
  • 2023 WOTY was COMPELLING. I want to write compelling stories, take compelling pictures, and lead a compelling life.
  • 2022 WOTY was CURATE. I want to make Always Write an organized place of learning and beauty for all of us and reflect the result of curation in my life.

All bloggers are publishers. We determine the purpose of our blogs. We monitor and approve what goes out to our public. Blogging carries a great responsibility because a website is a very public reflection of its owner.

  • I don’t knowingly say mean things, curse, or gossip on my blog. If a reader does, the comment is removed. I’ve never had to remove more than a couple of comments in 12 years of blogging.
  • Even though I work hard to create interesting posts and maintain my blog, I still find errors. It bothers me, but if I find an error, I fix it. If you find an error, I will fix it if I can.
  • I also work hard on the relationships blogging builds. Some people skim through the readers, pressing like, like, like. That’s fine, but I don’t pay much attention unless I already know the person. We’re all busy, and sometimes that’s the best we can do for the moment.
  • If you want to talk about something at length, then the comment section isn’t the best place to do it. Sometimes, I get so inspired when I read your blogs that I go on and on, and then I have to go back and cut some of it out.
  • If you want to talk about a project or a post at length, email alwayswrite01@gmail.com, which will get you a better response. However, if I don’t know you from the comment section of my blog, I will ignore your email, too.
  • If you ask me to write a review or publish a post on my blog, I will definitely ignore you unless I know you from the comments on my blog

Programs and Challenges I Host

Tuesdays: Story Chat Year 3

Hugh Roberts kicked off Story Chat Year 3 (SC Y3) on October 3, 2023. I publish a new story twice a month on Tuesdays. Find the schedule, the new relaxed submission requirements for authors, and challenge opportunities for participants on the SC PAGE.

This is a blogging program rather than a challenge with an expert team of authors who offer and receive advice and wisdom from each other and our wonderful team of readers.

Wednesday Quotes 2024

Wednesday Quotes (WQ) is a unique weekly Wednesday challenge that is both or either a writing and a photo challenge It’s a place for writers and photographers to tell their stories using a quote based on the week’s theme. For more information, click on the link to my page.

Random: Always Write Interview Series

Since 2020, I have hosted interviews with challenge hosts and some of their participants. This feature has been expanded this fall to include interviews with authors, editors, publishers, photographers, graphic illustrators, and marketing people supporting indie authors.

Featured Blogger Challenge Host Interview Series

As of January 2023, there were 22 interviews of hosts and participants in the Challenges. These are listed on the Always Write Interview Series Page. Join me for an interview or a guest post.

Featured on This Blog

I sometimes Double-Dip with WQ to satisfy my need to participate in Photo and Writing Challenges. I invite you to do the same. Generally, the challenges I host keep me busy, along with reading your posts. The best way to invite me to your blog is by making a comment on one of my regular features. I take attendance by linking your latest blog post after I’ve read it.

  8. Hi Marsha, I was looking around your blog as a new follower, and as you say, we have so many other bloggers in common! BUT I have to tell you the most exciting thing is that the Australian road sign photo in this post is from where I live – Tumbarumba is mentioned and that’s my small town!! How incredible :). Love connections like this!

    1. That is so funny! I was there in 2016-2017 to visit my blogging friend, Carol – the Eternal Traveler. It was a fabulous trip. I could never have imagined every going to Australia (and by myself) but she made it possible. She is also a teacher. I have a series of posts on Australia if you write Australia in the search box.

      1. I’ll definitely take a look!! So funny the connections we make. I’ve met a few bloggers on our travels and it’s always a highlight of our trips despite my husband’s initial unease.

        1. Yes, mine, too, but we have been on two trips in the States with our friends, so he is friends with both of them on Facebook, too. Do you know Terri Webster Schrandt? He has met her as well and enjoyed her a lot. With all of us spread all over the world, sadly, it’s not too likely that most of us will ever meet. It’s just so fun when we do.

          1. Yes I love Terri and join in her Sunday stills photo challenge most weeks. I agree it’s so much fun when we manage to meet up and it always feels like we’ve known each other forever!! Which is weird when you try to tell non blogging friends about it, as they just don’t get it!! I’m great friends with Donna although I’ve not met her in person, apart from being on zoom calls and through our blogging! I’m in contact with her most weeks and she’s one of my favourites.

          2. I can understand that. I just met her and I think she is adorable. You call each other every week? Wow! Do you get together with several of your blogging friends that way all at the same time, or individually. I know exactly what you mean about non-blogging friends not getting it. Mine are starting to after all this time, but at first it was like my blogging friends weren’t “real.” I think it helps to meet some of them and if you can introduce them to your friends, they get it. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Kevin. It’s so much easier than self-hosted, and it’s friendlier. I was never happy with my other blog, so I finally gave up fighting with it. I’m glad you like it. I thought I had lost you. I tried to look you up and got a no longer available sign. So did you do the same thing? I’m just excited to see you on line again. 🙂 Write soon. If you every want me to do a guest post, I owe you several. 🙂

  10. Marsha, was it you who recommended the book The Worst Hard Time? I’ve found it excellent, though disturbing. If it was you, have you seen this movie, which was mentioned in the book: The Plow That Broke the Plains

    Cheers! Yvonne

    1. It was me, and it was disturbing, and excellent. I haven’t seen the movie. Thanks for recommending it. We do so much plowing here that we have our own dustbowl problems right here in Central California.

Take care Yvonne, and have a Merry Christmas. Lots of love, Marsha xox
