Cee challenges us to find pictures of eyes for her Fun Foto Challenge this week. Seeing out of these eyes might be a challenge in itself.
David from The Skeptic Kaddish invites us to create poetry together. The photographs inspired the poem on the topic of poverty, which is another challenging new form for me.
W3 Poetry Prompt from the Skeptic’s Kaddish
This duodora was written in response to Murisopsis’ W3 prompt, which was to write a poem of exactly 14 lines on the theme of poverty (moral, financial, romantic, etc.).
What Is a Duodora?
- A quatorzain (14 lines) made up of 2 septets;
- Syllabic: 4/6/5/5/5/10/10 syllables per line;
- Rhymed Axxxxxb Axxxxxb;
- L1 is repeated as a refrain that begins the 2nd stanza;
- x is unrhymed.
Poverty in the Making
Fancy trinkets questionable value credit card purchases with no thought of thrift squandering assets for necessities not so the poor who count pennies and dimes can't afford to provide trout for a treat Fancy trinkets eyeglasses with rhinestones art lessons and paint dollar for statue an art show delight not so the poor who need dollars and cents sleep in a bag in a tent on the street ©Marsha Ingrao 2023 a duodora
