December 21: Christmas, Hanukkah, or Winter Solstice

We were so lucky this year that snow fell just before Christmas getting us into the holiday mood. Two weeks ago on WQW, I shared a winter wonderland. The good news is that two weeks ago I had to use archived pictures, and this week, I can show you what the weather is like here in Prescott, AZ.

โHow many lessons of faith and beauty we should lose, if there were no winter in our year.โ

Logo Contest
Do you love quotes? Do you enjoy designing? WQW Writer’s Quotes Wednesdays is changing to WQ Wednesday Quotes in 2023. Check out the 2023 WQ Logo Designing Contest.
This year we had two worthy entries for next year’s widget or logo shown in the order received. Some people post the image in their sidebar to show that they participate in a specific challenge. Others post them on every post. Some do both and others do neither.
Thank you to two amazing bloggers, Donna Connolly at Retirement Reflections and Sadje at Keep It Alive for taking the time to submit these two excellent logos. I’ll let you know who designed which logo will be our next logo on January 7th. I love them both, so I’m NEED your help choosing!
Voting Ends on January 4th

My Take on a Wintery Christmas
The other day Puppy Girl and I put on our heavy coats and went outside to make yellow snow. These are some of the wonderful views we had around our home.
โThe Christians stole the winter solstice from the pagans, and capitalism stole it from the Christians.โ
George Monbiot

โIn a way Winter is the real Spring โ the time when the inner things happen, the resurgence of nature.โ
โ Edna O’Brien
Christmas Shopping
You will, no doubt notice that I’m not showing you my deeper self where all the resurgence is happening. I love blogs where people say deep, cool stuff. I’ve come to the conclusion that you have to have a deep, cool mind in order to do that. So, with me, you get shop chatter.
Vince and I don’t have a lot of shopping left to do, so we strolled at a comfortable pace through the downtown shops around Courthouse Square. These shops reflect the true western spirit of Native Americans, cowboys, and rodeos in their decorations for Christmas as well as most of their merchandise.

โPerhaps I am a bear, or some hibernating animal underneath, for the instinct to be half asleep all winter is so strong in me.โ
Anne Morrow Lindburg
Finally, I have a few ornaments you might enjoy.

You will have to visit sometime. It’s right on your way to somewhere, especially if you fly. You can stopover at Phoenix and fly further east from here. I had never flown in and out of two airports until I came to Portland in September to see all of you.

I love that wine… I mean organic food tote bag! And, the quote by George Monbiot is a good one. I wish the season could be less about buying stuff and more about peace and good will. Looking forward to seeing which logo wins. Have a great holiday, Marsha!

The snow is so pretty – you know how much I love seeing snow photos. And you’re right, you won’t see that Christmas scene here in Toowoomba. It’s warm and sunny and 26C today, and we’re looking forward to a lovely summery Christmas Day in Brisbane with our dear little boy.

Such a beautiful Winter Wonderland and tour Marsha. Love the Indian Scene and all of the xmas pics to get me in the mood. Shopping is overrated but Amazon has been great this year. I never know if it’s a door handle or a xmas gift or a door handle xmas gift. Oh I wish I was good with Graphics and those are great ones but I’ll try to take a whirl at it.
I love you talking shop!!! ๐โค๏ธ

LOL Truth known, I know very little about wine. I have a few favorites, nothing over $15 per bottle. I spend most of my drinking on water! ๐ I know, how boring!

I suspect you do my share of Christmas shopping, Marsha. I’m not good at it. Butterfly brain! Inspiration always dawns late then I’m in a mad panic. We buy very little and are away from home with only hand luggage- that doesn’t give a lot of scope! Have a fabulous time…

Great ornaments … especially the taco truck … what a fabulous wine rack!!!! …. and the first pic in the collection is my favorite. Defintely southwestern and wonderful. Best holiday wishes to you and yours.
