LAST WEEK’S FABULOUS BLOGGERS

With all the other challenges, even public and street art, I thank all the bloggers who participate in the Photographing Public Art Challenge. Please honor these bloggers with your visits this week.

Next week, November 4 will be my last PPAC as your hostess. Although I need to step back, I love this challenge and all of you who post beautiful art from around the world. You have become true friends over nearly a year and a half – the life of this challenge. Natalie the Explorer has generously offered to continue as the host for PPAC as a part of her popular regular link party – Weekend Coffee Share beginning November 11th.

IT’S EASY TO PLAY ALONG WITH #PPAC

  • There is no weekly theme even though my post has a theme with murals, statues, fountains, scrap art, graffiti, store windows, seasonal displays, car or art shows, artistic construction, or even artistic neighborhood decor. Photograph the public art that is available to you.
  • Art should be freely visible from a public street, freeway, or walkway or inside a publicly accessed building like a library. If you pay, it’s not public.
  • Photographers should have free access of use for their photos – no copyrights by the artists.
  • The challenge starts every Friday at 9:00 a.m. Phoenix Time and it ends on Thursday at noon.
  • Write a post on your blog, publish it, and include a link back to my weekly post not my page preferably in a comment. Sometimes pingbacks are missed. See how to create pingbacks here
  • Take time to visit other PPAC participants throughout the week. I recommend visiting at least two or three other participants in the community and leaving them a comment.
  • Have fun! Art is to be enjoyed!

For More Ideas about PPAC…

These early-bird participants (posted by Wednesday at noon) might give you some great ideas about something you’ve never thought about as public art or how to photograph it.

My Choices for PPAC #69 Pumpkin Box Art

Here are three more pictures from my trip to the Pacific Northwest to meet up with bloggers. These are some of my favorites because of the colors. These paintings are on different sides of a large cardboard box housing pumpkins. I can’t imagine going to this much work for boxes that will be worn out and tossed by the end of the season. 🙂

Cute pumpkin box at one of the farms we visited in Greenbluff, WA.

I use the program Everyday Jigsaw to turn my brightest and best digital photos into digital puzzles. I just finished these two puzzles. The first three-hundred-piece puzzle snapped together in two hours and forty minutes on my small computer screen.

Side 2

Side two only took me one hour and fifty-nine minutes to work 300 pieces. Wahoo! See how I spend my sleepless nights in Prescott.

Side 3

This is the last bright pumpkin box I have for you today. I got distracted before I took a picture of side 4, so you will have to head up to see Terri and Hans and take a trip to Greenbluff to see the whole box.

Ongoing on Always Write

Now it’s your turn.

I hope you are inspired to find your own unique art as you travel around with your camera this week, or rummage through your archives. Feel free to double dip and support your own favorite challenges along with PPAC. Have a wonderful weekend!

  5. Hi Marsha.
I enjoyed the one Public Art posting I shared in, but decided to keep my focus on the reason I started blogging and that’s writing. I’ve wanted to do this regularly for a long time and over the past 76 years have actually built a small audience for my hobby so I’m pleased but since I still own a lot of time to my employer, I’m going to avoid getting so busy that I do everything only half-right.
It was kinda fun running about the city collecting photos of all those characters from the Peanuts comic strip, but my sense of art gets pretty weak after writing.
    Blessings.

  8. Our little town had one wall of art, but it began to disintegrate and was taken down to be restored. It won’t go back to where it was, but will be in our new (restored) museum. Otherwise, just statues and plaques.

    1. I think we have found art in many unusual places and ways. Who would think public art would be cardboard boxes, but they were sure artistic. 🙂

  11. This is a box? I couldn’t tell because the colors are so bright. That’s too bad it will be thrown when pumpkin season is over.

    1. I did brighten up the box a little using Adobe Bridge, but the fact that it was so beautifully painted and it was just cardboard sitting out under a roof in a rainy climate makes me marvel.

I love the challenge, and will continue to participate, including visiting the other blogs, but it takes the pressure off. Glad you like the jigsaw idea. 🙂 It’s a great timewaster! LOL

  16. Like you, I can’t imagine investing this much time and energy and talent in painting a box!! But I am glad the artist could and did!! Scarecrows are so much fun. I used to create/build/put together one every fall. Love the sweet face on this fellow and the use of that great aqua or turquoise color mixed with all the traditional colors of fall.

    1. The puzzles are digital, Cindy. When I taught kindergarten I did make physical wooden puzzles. I wish I had had these pictures then! Google Everyday Jigsaw. You download an app for your computer and it creates any number of puzzles from your photographs. Not that you have time to waste, but they are so much fun – I’m addicted. 🙂

  25. Hi Marsha, I love the bright colours on the pumpkin boxes. They make me smile right away. Well done with your digital puzzles although sleep is so important. I’m sad to hear next week will be your last PPAC for a while and maybe permanently. Is it because of time to manage the PPAC in addition to your other challenges? I’m interested in taking over PPAC, perhaps include it in my weekly Weekend Coffee Share linkup, as I wouldn’t be able to run two separate linkups every week. Let me know what you think. Have a great weekend!
