For More Ideas about Seeing Apricot (not red) and Other Strange Sightings

YOUR BLOG POST GOES HERE – FEEL FREE TO SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE POST IF A PARTICULAR TOPIC MOVES YOU.

My Choices for Seeing Apricot

My friend Natalie (not the Explorer) and I went for a walk this morning and afternoon. We didn’t get many steps in, but we had a great time searching for apricot in various antique shops. Prescott is famous for its antique stores downtown. She has a friend she especially loves who owns a shop. I met her a few weeks ago and felt the same way. She helped us find apricot items and stage them for Terri’s challenge.

Scarlett/Prerna is adorable. She had a bout with cancer and was quite ill for a while, so she only works part-time but the entire time we were in her store shoppers came in just to say hi to her since they saw her door open – just like we did.

“We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly, all at once, before a word has been spoken.”

Fyodor Dostoevsky

Apricot Sightings in Prescott

Our favorite store is Scarlett’s Curated Collection at 107 N. Cortez (perfect name for my WOTY – curate). Prerna also sells merchandise in The Marketplace at 117 N. Cortez. So these sightings are from those two stores – less than 50 steps apart.

wrong wording on the doors, right door into her shop.
Lots of apricot in Scarlett’s sign – we weren’t seeing red – only apricot. 🙂

Scarlett/Prerna and I spent a lot of time bemoaning the changes in our figures. I have to admit that hers are far more dramatic. In her youth, she was a model – against her parent’s wishes or knowledge. In my youth, I was a skinny youth with a bad figure – 28-18-38. I may be heavier now, but I’m much more evenly spaced. LOL

“Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away.”

Marcus Aurelius

Prerna’s boyfriend at the time took the first picture. I took the second one. I made her put on a light apricot hat for Terri’s Sunday Stills Color of the month and shot a picture of another door for Dan’s Thursday Doors Challenge. Today she donates all the profits from her store to charities. On the day we were there, she was planning a modeling opportunity for underprivileged kids aged 10-17 that will take place next month. They are looking for other sponsors other than herself.

Here are some quotes about her store. Quotes add so much benefit to social media and advertising as well as blog posts and can be found everywhere.

  • “Such a wonderful selection!”
  • “The merchandise is in excellent condition, showing Scarlett’s discerning taste.”
  • “Prerna, the owner, is a wonderful lady.”

I bought a pair of pants and two shirts for my upcoming trip to Portland and Spokane and spent about $25.00.

CBWC – Texture

Two of my purse choices made perfect photos for Cee’s B & W Texture Challenge this week. My lovely ant picture is almost B & W already and has lots of texture. Red ants bite, so I couldn’t get close enough to change them to B & W. 🙂

My Choices for Other Strange Sightings – or Oddball for Short

“I think that the greatest gift God ever gave man is not the gift of sight but the gift of vision. Sight is a function of the eyes, but vision is a function of the heart.”

Myles Munroe

Some may boast of vision, I can boast only of the sights I photograph. Sometimes the photographs are not a function of the heart but of the belly laugh. This first sighting especially made me laugh.

Oddball sighting: Who wants an audience when they use the toilet? One person is bad enough, but a trio?
Grasshopper sighting
Ant hole sighting Why would anyone take this picture?

Don’t Lose Sight of Your Past

“When a nation goes down, or a society perishes, one condition may always be found; they forgot where they came from. They lost sight of what had brought them along.”

Carl Sandburg

As we think about the UK and its loss of Queen Elizabeth, we think of their history – and ours – and how much she was a part of every part of our lives. If we lose sight of that continuity of history and continue as though nothing happened of importance, then we lose ourselves and our nations are on the brink of perishing.

“God bless the Queen. My heart is heavy with this great loss of a reigning monarch, for myself, my country, and for the United Kingdom, and all the royals left behind. May she rest in peace with her beloved husband, and be remembered for centuries to come for her glorious reign. Amen.”

D. G. Kay Writer

I read in the New York Times about the reaction of the youth in Great Britain to the passing of the Queen.

“On the night the queen died, I was in a taxi in the Camden neighborhood here in London. The streets were packed with kids going in and out of pubs and clubs. They were laughing and joking and vaping and doing everything kids do. It crossed my mind: The fact that the queen had died hours earlier didn’t seem to register that much. And why would you expect it to?”

NY Times, Claire Moses

What About Your Experiences?

Remember if you are researching a topic, you have found a gold mine of quotes. I summarized articles, and the name or website behind the post adds the gravitas I might lack about a topic. Don’t forget that songs count as quotes, too.

    1. OOPs. I wondered about that. It is pretty big, but I’ve never been good at identifying bugs unless they attack me. We all get a little chuckle about that one. 🙂 Have a great weekend. Are you having nice weather?

  12. Hi, Marsha – These are great appricot captures. Although I am more of a backpack-kind-of-gal, I especially love the two purse photos. I was delighted when I saw them again in black and white for their great textures!

    1. I am not a super purse person either, but I actually bought two purses at one of these amazing second hand stores. One was turquoise – of course and the leather bag cost me $10. The other black leather Italian purse was all of $5.00. So I’ll give up my purse avoidance for a while.

  13. Nice eclectic mix of things here Marsha. I love the color apricot, very close to coral, my fav. That toilet was ridiculous – not to mention, the toilet paper holder was far from the toilet too, lol. Thanks for sharing a quote from my Queen Elizabeth post. Sad that some kids of today don’t give a care about history, as the NYT clearly made a point. Hugs ❤

  23. Our eyesight is probably our most used sense as we tend to be visual as humans. I love how you wove in the apricot color challenge into your WQW post, Marsha. I was heading out the door to take a bike ride on a nearby trail for article research when I saw your post pop up! Your apricot finds are very cool and some are so unusual–makes sense to find them in an antique store. That oddball bathroom is hilarious!
