My Choices for Seeing Apricot
My friend Natalie (not the Explorer) and I went for a walk this morning and afternoon. We didn’t get many steps in, but we had a great time searching for apricot in various antique shops. Prescott is famous for its antique stores downtown. She has a friend she especially loves who owns a shop. I met her a few weeks ago and felt the same way. She helped us find apricot items and stage them for Terri’s challenge.
Scarlett/Prerna is adorable. She had a bout with cancer and was quite ill for a while, so she only works part-time but the entire time we were in her store shoppers came in just to say hi to her since they saw her door open – just like we did.

Apricot Sightings in Prescott
Our favorite store is Scarlett’s Curated Collection at 107 N. Cortez (perfect name for my WOTY – curate). Prerna also sells merchandise in The Marketplace at 117 N. Cortez. So these sightings are from those two stores – less than 50 steps apart.
Scarlett/Prerna and I spent a lot of time bemoaning the changes in our figures. I have to admit that hers are far more dramatic. In her youth, she was a model – against her parent’s wishes or knowledge. In my youth, I was a skinny youth with a bad figure – 28-18-38. I may be heavier now, but I’m much more evenly spaced. LOL

Prerna’s boyfriend at the time took the first picture. I took the second one. I made her put on a light apricot hat for Terri’s Sunday Stills Color of the month and shot a picture of another door for Dan’s Thursday Doors Challenge. Today she donates all the profits from her store to charities. On the day we were there, she was planning a modeling opportunity for underprivileged kids aged 10-17 that will take place next month. They are looking for other sponsors other than herself.

CBWC – Texture
Two of my purse choices made perfect photos for Cee’s B & W Texture Challenge this week. My lovely ant picture is almost B & W already and has lots of texture. Red ants bite, so I couldn’t get close enough to change them to B & W. 🙂
My Choices for Other Strange Sightings – or Oddball for Short

Some may boast of vision, I can boast only of the sights I photograph. Sometimes the photographs are not a function of the heart but of the belly laugh. This first sighting especially made me laugh.

As we think about the UK and its loss of Queen Elizabeth, we think of their history – and ours – and how much she was a part of every part of our lives. I read in the New York Times about the reaction of the youth in Great Britain to the passing of the Queen.

Remember if you are researching a topic, you have found a gold mine of quotes. I summarized articles, and the name or website behind the post adds the gravitas I might lack about a topic. Don’t forget that songs count as quotes, too.
Ongoing on Always Write
- On September 6th Story Chat presented Gary Wilson’s new story, “A Daily Regret”. Look for it. It’s the last of Year Two.
- PPAC #62 – “A Day of Public Mourning” (Photographing Public Art Challenge) is your choice of art – no theme! I will be traveling and moving two households into one so will miss three weeks if anyone would like to host PPAC.
