Usually, I highlight some activities in which I discovered public art during the week. This is throwback week for me. So I’m pulling together a theme – for me but feel free to copy it if it works. You can follow the idea of throwback or find some horse art or just horse around. Enjoy your week. ๐

LAST WEEK’S FABULOUS BLOGGERS
Last week for PPAC #54, I had fun responses from all of you. With all the other challenges, even public and street art, I thank all the bloggers who participate in the Photographing Public Art Challenge. Please honor these bloggers with your visits this week.

ITโS EASY TO PLAY ALONG WITH #PPAC
- There is no weekly theme even though my post has a theme with murals, statues, fountains, scrap art, graffiti, store windows, seasonal displays, car or art shows, artistic construction, or even artistic neighborhood decor. Photograph the public art that is available to you.
- Art should be freely visible from a public street, freeway, or walkway or inside a publicly accessed building like a library. If you pay, itโs not public.
- Photographers should have free access of use for their photos โ no copyrights by the artists.
- The challenge starts every Friday at 9:00 a.m. Phoenix Time and it ends on Thursday at noon.
- Write a post on your blog, publish it, and include a link back to my weekly post not my page preferably in a comment. Sometimes pingbacks are missed. See how to create pingbacks here.
- Take time to visit other PPAC participants throughout the week. I recommend visiting at least two or three other participants in the community and leaving them a comment.
- Have fun! Art is to be enjoyed!
For More Ideas about PPACโฆ
These early-bird participants (posted by Wednesday at noon) might give you some great ideas about something youโve never thought about as public art or how to photograph it.

Horses in Prescott, AZ
During rodeo days here in Prescott, we met a real Pony Express rider. The Pony Express runs once a year during rodeo days. It’s just as hard now as it was then, especially in the 100-degree July heat.

“Bucky O’Neill (February 2, 1860-July 1,1898 ) was an editor, sheriff, and many other jobs in Prescott, Arizona. He was also a Captain in Roosevelt’s Rough Riders. His name came because he tended to “buck the finger” or play against the odds in games of gambling. He was killed in Cuba. The statue was made by Solon Burglum who was America’s first cowboy sculptor (1868-1922). The statue was dedicated July 3, 1907.”

Ongoing on Always Write
- July Story Chat, “Not a Proper Job” by another new (to us) author, Philip Cumberland AKA Fenlandphil’s Blog goes live July 5th
- WQW #26 (Writer’s Quotes Wednesdays) – “Hearing” The only rule is to have at least one quote in your post about the topic. Remember a song can be a quote, too. Then just post a story, poem, or pictures that tie into and respond to your quote or quotes. The last day to post links is Tuesday at 12:00 noon Phoenix time.
Now itโs your turn.
I hope you are inspired to find your own unique art as you travel around with your camera this week, or rummage through your archives. Feel free to double dip and support your own favorite challenges along with PPAC.

One of my all time favorite statues is the resting cowboy in Prescott. I love the expression, and knowing the history of the city, it is the perfect place for it.

Great collection of horses, Marsha. I like that you included other kinds of horses too. My favorite is the Sympathetic Wickenburg Horses and the Delaware Partial Horse. We have similar partial horses with fish tails in traditional Thai art too; they are a species in old Thai literature (though I forgot what they are called already). Interesting cultural similarities.

I am sure that in his day, the owner of this estate traveled all over the world gathering ideas from other countries. The Duponts were among the first of the very rich in America. My mom’s cousin worked for Dupont as a chemical engineer until about the 1980s. He has taken me on tours all over the various homes and parks they created in Delaware. He’s still alive at age 97.

Our walk was quiet and cool the rest of the day was quiet but not cool the temps went 29c/84.2f . That’s high for us and today it’s going up to 36c/96f
which is crazy again so it’s 5.24 am and I am getting up to walk Ruby as it will be 22c/71f by 8am. Hubby is recovering from an operation on his arm and did not have a good night! It’s very sticky and hot all ready!

I’m amazed it is so hot there. Is this unusual? I’m so sorry about your husband. It is 10:30 at night here. Perfect temp right now – 75/24C. In Scottsdale about an hour and a half south of here, it’s 90/32C right now. Moji, our cat is on night lookout duty at the back sliding door. She’s on the alert for night bugs, birds and other critters. Puppy and I are checking comments and listening to sports on tv. Pretty dull evening, right? We had our 6:00 pm walk, and I got my new fitbit so I’m feeling more fit already. ๐ Have a great day. Maybe we’ll chat tomorrow. ๐ Take care, Willow. ๐

Hi Marsha, weather is very rare here and it’s making things difficult. Our transportation network is not setup for this heat, our high speed trains can’t run at normal speed because the rails can buckle, not many of our houses have air con definitely none round here.
Anyway I have walked Ruby, done the housework planned dinner and just sat down for a coffee. It only 9.46am!! Temp 27c and rising!! Hubby and Ruby are sitting in the front garden in full shade, I am round the back on the patio under the garden parasol! ๐

Yes and it went up to 41c 105 .8 F. And unfortunately parts of East London and other parts of England have been hit by wildfires. “Multiple homes have been destroyed by flames after a huge blaze spread to an east London village.

It sounds like you are living in Phoenix instead of the UK. Last year, I think it was Portland, which has weather like your usual weather had temperatures up to 134F/56.7C. I think Cee said. Over 120F/49C at least. The temps were accompanied by fires as well.
