Cell Pic Sunday is the chance to show off your cell phone’s ability to take great pictures and your expertise in processing them. This is John’s 248th post, wow divide that by 52, and that’s a lot of dedicated years!

This is the fifth in my Martin Auto Museum series. John Steiner recommended that we visit this museum while we were in Scottsdale, and we were impressed.

Art Carney and Lilly Tomlin in “The Late Show”

One of my favorite cars for lots of reasons was the movie show car. I never saw the movie, but when I was 20ish my friends called me Lilly Tomlin – maybe because I snorted? Anyway, I wasn’t drawn to her, so I missed out on this unique car.

The front was all Oldsmobile, which I loved because we had one.
The back was all Cadillac, which I loved because my grandparents had one. Notice, neither was a great reason to love a car – style, color, function, comfort… fill in the blanks.
It took them 20 years before they hatcheted these beauties.

Notice the weight – 4,460. I thought that was a big deal until I looked up the average weight of a car in 2022. Believe it or not – 4,166. I thought cars were supposed to be plastic and lighter weight these days. My car, a Toyota Prius Prime, weighs 3,365 to 3,375 lbs. according to Google.

According to a different source, the CreditDonkey, “the average weight of a car in the U.S. is about 2,900 lb.” (Okay, that’s more like what I thought.) “The average mid-sized sedan weighs about 3,350 lb and the average SUV weighs in at 4,800 lb.” They call the Mulsanne a “monster” at 5,919 pounds. “Luxury full-sized sedans, like the Rolls-Royce Phantom, is close in weight to the Mulsanne, as the Phantom weighs about 5,600 lb.”

The heaviest part of a car is the engine. Wrong again! I thought all the weight was caused by all the chrome!

Pitted chrome in front – Dad would have had a fit!
More pitting, what a pity.

more chrome in the back
Love those fins!
Where did they split the car?
scuffed side

Here was the shocker for me. The movie folks left the roughed-up spots on the side of the car. Lilly must have kicked the car a few times with her spiked heels. 🙂

These pictures were all taken with my iPhone 12 mini back dual wide camera 4.2mm f/1.6 according to the metadata on one of the photos. They were all processed in Adobe Bridge. Then I reprocessed them as multiple files in Adobe Photoshop Elements to add my name and downsize the resolution to save space in WP.

That’s a wrap for MAM #5. Hope you enjoyed this brief car hop on Cell Pick Sunday. Have a great week. 🙂 Happy blogging!

Thanks for the compliment. The good news is that we don’t have to practice our weightlifting skills on them. 🙂

That is a lot of posts John has done!
So pristine minus the scuff but Lily had to put her drama on and christen it. Do you still snort Marsha?
I’m shocked cars weigh that much too. Not sure what I thought it would be.
You Blows me away all of the pics and storage etc.
    Great post as always!!! 💖💖
Do you know if I clear pictures in my media library if the post goes away? I heard that but I’m not sure if it’s true or not.

John is very prolific, for sure. I don’t snort unless I’m imitating Lilly Tomlin. Then I do a pretty good imitation. When you clear pictures from your media, the post stays in tact but it leaves a hole in the post where the picture should be.

    Beautiful shots.
And a great reminder to DOWNSIZE my photos before adding them to WordPress. No, I don’t always do this — very bad, I know!

I thought I was doing that but not all are showing that.

Interesting that the movie makers took such care to create a movie but they couldn’t get the model of the car right. I think that happens a lot.

They created the car to be half one make and model and half the other. It is quite unique.
