Celebrating one year of PPAC and 27 joyous years of marriage to my jovial, jaunty, and judicious husband, Vince!

As Vince and I celebrate today, this post marks the completion of one year of the Photographing Public Art Challenge. Today I’m celebrating by combining it with Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – anything with a J in the word. Cee co-hosted Photographing Public Art when we started. She has time to join occasionally now. Vince and I have so much fun each week junking around finding art everywhere.

LAST WEEK’S FABULOUS BLOGGERS

Last week for PPAC #51, I had fun responses from all of you. With all the other challenges, even public art, I thank all the bloggers who participate in PPAC. Please honor these bloggers with your visits this week. InLinkz did not seem to work well for you, so I’ll keep adding your links my old-fashioned way.

IT’S EASY TO PLAY ALONG WITH #PPAC

  • There is no weekly theme even though my post has a theme with murals, statues, fountains, scrap art, graffiti, store windows, seasonal displays, car or art shows, artistic construction, or even artistic neighborhood decor. Photograph the public art that is available to you.
  • Art should be freely visible from a public street, freeway, or walkway or inside a publicly accessed building like a library. If you pay, it’s not public.
  • Photographers should have free access of use for their photos – no copyrights by the artists.
  • The challenge starts every Friday at 9:00 a.m. Phoenix Time and it ends on Thursday at noon.
  • Write a post on your blog, publish it, and include a link back to my weekly post not my page preferably in a comment. Sometimes pingbacks are missed. See how to create pingbacks here
  • Take time to visit other PPAC participants throughout the week. I recommend visiting at least two or three other participants in the community and leaving them a comment.
  • Have fun! Art is to be enjoyed!

For More Ideas about PPAC…

These early-bird participants might give you some great ideas about something you’ve never thought about as public art or how to photograph it.

My Choices for PPAC #52 Jumbled Junk

What a jumbled assortment of junk that created this piece of yard art
Remember the Kauai Art from a couple of weeks ago? I felt artistic that day and crawled underneath one of the pieces of junk placed on the grounds as historic art and shot a photo looking out. It looks like a jar or jug maybe. What do you think?
These next few pieces of historic junk found at Fain Park in Prescott Valley celebrate the area’s mining industry.
The rustier the better

Antique Stores Advertise Junk with Junk

No JOKE this Cottonwood, AZ antique store sports a junk car used as an advertising canvas.

Jawbone Public Art

Jawbone outside a Museum in Williams, AZ
An antique store window in Prescott, AZ near Halloween used the jawbone (and more bones!) for decoration.

Ongoing on Always Write

  • July Story Chat, “Not a Proper Job” by another new (to us) author, Philip Cumberland AKA Fenlandphil’s Blog goes live July 5th
  • WQW #23 (Writer’s Quotes Wednesdays) – “Summer Colors/Summer Solstice” The only rule is to have at least one quote in your post about the topic. Remember a song can be a quote, too. Then just post a story, poem, or pictures that tie into and respond to your quote or quotes. The last day to post links is Tuesday at 12:00 noon Phoenix time.

Now it’s your turn.

I hope you are inspired to find your own unique art as you travel around with your camera this week, or rummage through your archives. Feel free to double dip and support your own favorite challenges along with PPAC.

    1. I do too, Aletta. Crazy, isn’t it? I remember driving along highways when I was a kid in the country where it seemed to be the popular practice of throwing out used junk in the front yards. How ugly. Now we decorate those things and call them art! 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Sarah. I’m just thrilled when you do join in. Blogging is a hobby that keeps us all busier than we can possibly keep up! 🙂 One thing you can do, if you want is post some of your Art posts, if you haven’t already for upcoming PPAC that you have nothing new written. You put so much time and effort into writing your posts you might as well leverage them and post them on multiple challenges, multiple times. I’m good at weaving multiple challenges together, but not as good at posting them in multiple places. But yours have a lot of substance. You should consider it. 🙂

  19. Congratulations to you both – 27 joyous, jaunty years must have been fun! I loved the antique advertising car. No need to polish it, either! My town lacks street art, or at least the kind I enjoy, but is good for live music, given its size.

    1. Hi Susan, there’s nothing wrong with lots of music. I’m impressed with Prescott on the same front. They have concerts in the park two days a week during the summer! This week we also have a Bluegrass Festival going on. I find that incredible and I’m sure you feel the same about your town! 🙂 What kind of Street Art do you like?

And I wonder what animal that first one is… I thought I had commented with best wishes on your anniversary, but I don’t see it here so I must have dreamed it 🙂 Thus, Happy Anniversary!–you both must know the secret, having made it this far and long 🙂 May you be blessed with many more good years together💖

    1. I don’t know much in the way of secrets. Trust God that we are where we should be. We work hard at marriage. 🙂 Try to be kind, Let go of hurt feelings quickly, do nice things for each other, and forgive each other’s mistakes, stubbornness, and faults. That’s about it.
