Sunday Stills: One Way Up – Ruffle Some Feathers

Terri my good friend who hosts Sunday Stills picked a hard topic for me to meld with WQW (Writer’s Quotes Wednesdays) this week. Besides, I have company coming in less than three hours and nothing is done! So today it’s on its own.

“If feathers don’t ruffle, nothing flies.”

– Jessica Raine

When my best friend’s husband, a serious-looking deputy sheriff, called me a space cadet, I reacted before I thought and poured my half-glass of water on his head. No one said a word or rustled a feather. You could have heard a feather drop.

I couldn’t believe I’d done it either. I held my breath, and he must have counted to 100. He never said a word and I apologized like crazy.

She talks a big talk but nobody listens. No feelings get hurt and no one flies off the handle.

“Imagine if birds were tickled by feathers. You’d see a flock of birds come by, laughing hysterically!”

– Steven Wright.

“Having a bad feather day?”
“How rude, Clara. Fleas are bad this year, don’t you think?”
“Psst, I wasn’t talking about you, Aqua. Look up. Do you get my point?”

Praises for our past triumphs are as feathers to a dead bird.

Paul Eldridge
“Look at me. Look at me. Pretty fishy, look at me.”
“Speaking of pretty, that reminds me of an appropriate song. ‘I’m so pretty, I’m so pretty. I’m so pretty, and witty, and bright.’”
“Don’t get your feathers in a bunch, Maynard. She thinks she’s so bright. She should see us. Now we are BRIGHT! Especially me,” Roy doodled.
“Hide the sangria, Jessica. Smirnoff is headed this way, and he looks like he’s had one too many.”

I love the pics and the captions, not so sure about water on the head. I hope he accepted your apology and that you are all still friends.

It was a pretty stupid thing to do. There wasn’t much water in it, and we laughed forever at my nickname. He never stopped calling me that, but I never poured water on his head again – just gave him my teacher look. 🙂 They were our closest friends ever and she still is. Thanks for the comments. The birds are mostly, not completely all Australian.

Yay, you had loads of fun with the fun feathers theme, Marsha! I LOL’d on every image and their conversations and quotes. That pelican is really quite pretty! I’m sure your company is there by the time you read this. My brother is on track to come Thursday (he tested positive for covid a week ago)…all clear. My feathers would have been in a droopy bunch if they couldn’t make it!
