Hi – I didn’t know that tulips clumped and gathered like Iris – partly because my tulip bulbs never lasted when in the ground –
And I recently got some fun small boxes of bulbs from holland – they were a close out and sadly – I think it was related to the pandemic and their business sales being down
So the boxes had about 20 bulbs – mixed varieties – and so far it seems like half of the bulbs were viable
Oh, that’s sad. I haven’t planted tulips in a long time. Where we lived was way too hot for them to last very long. (In my opinion). I’ll have to try them next year here in Prescott. It’s plenty cool here. I’m not much of a bulb person. It takes a lot of thinking and planning ahead when they are not in season. LOL

That’s what “Bridget” said. I was shocked because the bulbs multiple. You can separate them and they are beautiful. She said they degrade. I’m not an expert, so OK, but how do the folks in Holland grown them? LOL

you already said how they get new bulbs Marsha, the bulbs naturally multiply. So I assume they cleave the bulbs to harvest?
I hope they at least have a system set up for local gardeners to take the unwanted bulbs? But when I think about it I bet all the Nursery’s selling new bulbs would cry foul If they gave away the bulbs for free! So they probably throw them in the garbage?
