It’s been a busy week for me. I only had time to sit down and drink a cup of coffee on Tuesday and Thursday. The rest of the time I’ve been cleaning trying to rid our little condo of every piece of cat hair and dander. Thank you to our neighbors Gail and Roger for loaning me their large air purifier. Thank you to my sister-in-law, Cindy for housing all my fur babies. They are super easy to entertain, though.

Doors and Windows
After I left Snooze and Blues Bloggers, This, that and the other thing, Wind Kisses, and Journeys by Johnbo., Vince and I saw this unusual building near our condo. I asked him to stop, and he kindly pulled into their driveway so I could get out and take pictures of these amazing doors and windows.
I couldn’t find any information about the architectural structure of the building, only that it really is an orthodontic office. Isn’t it amazing?
Prescott Weather
Since our friends came yesterday from Sunny California, they wanted to know how to dress in Prescott and Scottsdale. They need two entirely different wardrobes. Scottsdale enjoys 70-80 degree temperatures and mostly sunny skies. Prescott had snow Thursday! It didn’t bother me, I read blogs after I cleaned.
Books and Movies
This week I finished Geoff LePard’s book, Dead Flies and Sherry Trifle which I enjoyed. My friend Carmen calls this kind of book “mind candy.” It’s just fun to read. You probably won’t come out an intellectual after reading it even though it is about a college student and his difficulties with one other student in particular as well as a few dead flies. Geoff Le Pard has such a fun sense of humor.
Wednesday night I watched the Netflix film about Ben Carson. Ben’s mother encouraged him to believe he was smart and “could do anything anyone else could do only better.” He went from being a failing student to one at the top of his eighth-grade class. Transferring to a different high school, he went through a rebellious time and struggled with his terrible temper which almost caused him to injure his mother and nearly kill another student.
I was inspired to watch his metamorphosis into a top pediatric neurosurgeon. He separated twins conjoined at the head, an operation that had never been successful in the past. He removed one-half of a brain from an epileptic four-year-old and cured her epilepsy allowing her to live a normal life. I enjoy movies made from inspiring true stories.
Food, Recipes, and Taste
This week’s WQW is about the popular topic of food. Since I like but don’t love to cook, I decided to share what I did with some of my leftovers this week to turn them into a yummy Italian gourmet dish, Pasta al Pomodoro. It is typically prepared with pasta, olive oil, fresh tomatoes, basil, and various other fresh ingredients. I used leftovers for some of the main ingredients. Not super fancy, but super easy and tasty. Although my post is super late for What’s on Your Plate, I’m including the pingback so anyone who is reading will know where to go the first week in April if they want to be part of the link party. If you just want to read some interesting posts about cooking, you have a good place to start. The post I linked is all about the hostess, Widow Badass’ new air fryer. I’ve been wanting one, so I thought it was super interesting.

Clean Up Thirteen Minutes
This dish is super easy to make and equally easy to clean. While everything cooks, it’s easy to put spices and oil back into the cabinet. I use one of my pots as a dishpan for the things I don’t put in the dishwasher. This saves water in “Arid-zonia” as JohnRH of John’s Space called it. Everything including the stove, counter, and sink were wiped clean and clean pots and pan were put away in thirteen minutes!

Spirit of Moji
On Thursday, Vince sent me this picture from the condo in Scottsdale he labeled as the spirit of Moji. It’s his coat on the bed.
He’s the project manager for our Air B n B condo in Scottsdale. He hated the loud air conditioner and didn’t want bad reviews. So, to make more work for himself, he ordered a new AC unit that had to be installed in a different place in the condo since the rules have changed since the unit was built 35 or 40 years ago. This resulted in him having to do all the frame and finish work for the ducting and where the unit is going. I almost cried when I saw our beautiful condo all torn up.
He said, “It looks like progress to me.”
I answered, “It looks like a disaster to me.”
Since then he’s cleaned it up some and worked so hard getting it at least livable for our guests. He puts a lot of stress on himself to do house projects that sometimes (like in this case) seem unnecessary to me. But the deal is that he wants the best for people who stay there – including us!
I’m proud he’s such a hard worker and that he cares for the needs of others. The best news is that the AC and furnace work so quietly and efficiently you can hardly hear them.
I told him, “No more projects for a while. I want to play. Arizona is like a huge Disney Land for adults, and I want to check out some of the wonderful sites.”
He agreed. We’ll see what happens. He’s as addicted to projects as I am blogging.
