First things first – Happy Valentine’s Day if I get this done in 35 minutes. Otherwise, make that belated Valentine’s Day.
This week Terri’s Sunday Stills Challenge is to find pictures of purple or amethyst. Remember anything with that topic works as long as you don’t copy her exact title.
New Lens-Artist, Sofia, Challenge # 186 is Low Light. So I’m going to try to marry the two into one post.
Of course, I’m sure I will find something purple or in low light or both to play on Cee’s FOTD challenge.
Of course, I’d like to include at least one cell phone photo for John’s Cell Pic Sunday
Finally, I can’t forget to include a few SquareOdds before the month slips away from us.
My Choices for This Week
O hushed October morning mild, Begin the hours of this day slow, Make the day seem to us less brief… Retard the sun with gentle mist; Enchant the land with amethyst…
Robert Frost

Purple Cloth
How is it possible to suspend topaz in one cup of the balance and weigh it against amethyst in the other; or who in a single language can compare the tranquillizing grace of a maiden with the invigorating pleasure of witnessing a well-contested rat-fight?
– Ernest Bramah

Some Purples Are SquareOdds and Some Are Princesses

Purple Royalty Traditions Handed Down

Amethyst Flowers Through the Seasons
And all the woods are alive with the murmur and sound of Spring,
And the rose-bud breaks into pink on the climbing briar,
And the crocus-bed is a quivering moon of fire
Girdled round with the belt of an amethyst ring.
– Author: Oscar Wilde

Traveling in Purple Style

A Man’s Amethyst Home Is His Castle

Most of my pictures are taken with a cell phone. The numbers have changed over the years from 4 to 6 to 12, not SquareOdds. Sometimes I’ve gotten fancy with my new Sony or Canon Rebel XTi. I’ve had fun sharing them all with you.
Reminder, Then It’s Your Turn
Hope your day was sweet and romantic. Don’t forget this week’s topic for WQW is Love and Romance. Hope to see you there with photos, poems, stories – whatever goes with your favorite quote. Lots of love to all of you, my friends.

Excellent Marsha. That Frost quote is beautiful, and the first photo is my fave, though I love that ’55 (?) ‘Chivy’. Superb.

The purple amethyst sky is a dream! Nice to wake up too. Great grab on the Santi Rita pickle pear cacti. I love those. The car was a reminder to me of a trip I took to a car show at the Oregon Garden. The cars were staged as art around the garden and the purple one was amidst pinks and greens. There is something about purple, isn’t there. I love the house. Not the color I would paint my house, but I know lots of friends who would welcome that opportunity. Donna

You gave me a name to go with my picture, Donna. I’m going to have to cut and paste it before I forget!. I wish I could have seen the cars staged aroung the garden as art. How fun was that?!!

Thanks, Cee. I was happy to find them and get them labeled. I’m definitely going to have to concentrate on color photography, and by that I mean single color items. ๐

High fives on the photo challenge links, Marsha! I believe you have me beat, but I managed to link to 7 in one post once, LOL! It’s not a competition, but rather, a way to maximize the creativity of meeting the challenges and being inspired! Your purples are lovely and of course, you have purple cars for us! You really nailed the low-light purple sunrise in that first shot, just gorgeous! My next favorite is the image of the Hawaiian women wearing purple, such a striking image! I always appreciate your Sunday Stills entries and faithful following ๐

Awww How could I not?? I love Sunday Stills and they almost always match WQW in some way, so it’s a win-win. I finally feel sort of caught up with posting – until Wednesday. Now reading everyone else’s posts. That is what I don’t have time to do as much as I like during Squares and I haven’t been able to keep up with Squares either. But on the plus side, I probably found 100 or more purples out of 40,000+ photos, and I created a bunch of labels, and even deleted some really horrible pictures..

Fun that we inspire each other! When you mentioned I should post about the totem pole, I am working on that “pet” project for the “all about pets” theme this Sunday. I love how things work out!

Yay! Maddie, I’m so excited to hear from you. Have you written any new books? I’d love to have you as a guest author on Story Chat. Check out my page on Story Chat and see what you think. Meanwhile, I’ll come see what you’re doing.

LOL, Lady Sighs. You do have a purple butterfly as your gravitar. I just saw you over at Maddie’s. I’m so thrilled she’s back. She writes my favorite kind of mind candy. ๐ Here’s one of my favorite purple posts. I would have posted her again but it hasn’t been very long. https://alwayswrite.blog/2021/10/29/becky-bs-pastsquares/ if you didn’t see it already. ๐

No, I didn’t see your purple lady. Had a look. What a character!
I participated in Squares last October …. but wasn’t feeling well most of the month. I had pre-prepared most of them and asked a friend to post them. But they were never linked back to Becky. So I didn’t see much that month.
Yes, we all drop out of WP for reasons … just reasons. But glad Maddie is back too. It’s not always easy to jump back in.

It helps to get back into challenges. That’s what I did. I decided that would be my niche. I started interviewing people who hosted and played the challenges, learned a lot, then developed my friendships again based on that. She would do well with writing challenges.

Yes, I was scraping the bottom of my photograph archives to find purple pictures. I’m going to have to make more of a concerted effort to photograph single color photos. Several challenges turn to colors from time to time. I could do pink or red, green or blue with no problem, but purple, orange are secondary colors that I don’t have tons of.

I don’t know about a star. Some readers don’t like to read 10 posts a day, or in this case 5. Since I tend to be wordy, it’s probably better to limit it to one shot wordiness! LOL
