Public art encompasses any form of art you see in a public place, large or small, statues, murals, graffiti, gardens, parks, etc. The art should be visible from streets, sidewalks, or outdoor public places. Let your imagination and photographic eye show us diverse samples all over the world.

Last week for PPAC #25, Cee had a marvelous response from all of you. I want to say thank you to each of you for joining along in our challenge.  Here are the featured bloggers for this week.  Their posts really grabbed our attention. They are all worthy of a second or third look and a comment or two!

My Choices for PPAC #26 Hosier Lane

In my last two PPAC posts I’e been sharing my 2016 walk down Hosier Lane in Melbourne with fellow blogger, the Eternal Traveller. As things change there from day to day, it probably looks so different now. Since these are some of my very favorite murals, I’m sad that they probably are gone.

I’m not sure what’s going on in this picture, but it looks like someone does when their sunburn is peeling off. However, with painters, they can make thing look 3-D, so maybe that’s part of the Hosier look.

My first picture of this young woman is my original photo. I played with it, and she became a little edgier. Which do you prefer, soft and waif-like or edgy?

This picture had almost a camouflage look about it when I first saw it. I hardly saw the picture. You can see how much lighter and cloudier it is than the other paintings on the lower level. After sharpening it up a little and playing with the contrast and colors, she is much easier to see.

What I love the most in these last two paintings are their eyes.

Updates for Natalie’s Weekend Coffee Share

  • I had the privilege of having lunch with John Steiner – PhotosbyJohnbo and his wife today. It’s such a delight to meet fellow bloggers in person and learn how much you have in common. I always learn a lot, too, and that’s my goal in life.
  • I’m on my last leg of my four-month pickleball accident ordeal. I had an appointment with a pulmonologist – if you need a great one, I recommend Dr. Seth. I still have “uncontrolled inflammation” in my lungs, and will start using a steroid inhaler and taking Allegra for a while. I have one more surgery to remove clots in my left leg next Friday – my sixth and what I hope is my last.
  • A friend is visiting us starting tomorrow for a week from California. She has NEVER been to AZ, never seen the Grand Canyon or Sedona. This is going to be a fun week with lots of photo opportunities. I can’t wait.
  • My neighbor and I had brunch on Thursday and planned a progressive dinner for our neighbors scheduled for December 19th.
  • Pickleball friends are hosting an elephant gift party on Dec. 21st.
  • Manny is going to Florida in January and Vince and I are headed for the opposite coast to California.

December Story Chat is well on the way with over 70 views, 32 likes and 40 comments. Come enjoy Cathy Cade’s Christmas story, “On the Streets” about a young street performer. She loves your comments and likes!

Challenge Interview Series. This week I heard from Bushboy, Brian Dodd. His interview will be coming up soon. If you haven’t seen his photos take a look at his website. and enjoy bits of Australian life. He hosts Last on the Card.

I also had a Zoom chat on Monday night with four amazing women, Deb, SueDonna, and Jo, who have started a new Challenge cleverly named, “What’s on Your Bookshelf.” That interview will come up after the new year.

#WQWWC 52– Writer’s Quotes Wednesdays Writing Challenge: The topic this week is Festive – Celebrating. This is my milestone 1,400th post and one year of WQWWC! So, celebrate with me. This post goes perfectly with the Lens-Artist Photo Challenge – Celebrating and Sunday Stills – Christmas Song Lyrics. You don’t have to limit yourself to Christmas or even winter holidays. Just pick times you have been festive. It’s a great chance to share pictures and stories of family gatherings, parades, or other celebrations. The only requirement is to include at least one quote with your post. Songs count as quotes – by the way. 🙂

Now it’s your turn.

Take us for a spin around your world to see the public art you love and tell us your stories if you like.

Wow, that’s some collection of dynamic, vibrant murals you’ve presented this week! And I adore the focus on the eyes. The eye in the dog is adorable, so warm and beseeching that I want to give that good doggie a hug and tummy scritch.

  13. One of the charms of murals are their transcient nature. I also feel sad to learn that some of my favourite ones around the Brick Lane area in London are replaced (I follow Debbie at Travel With Intent to get my London fix), but am glad to know that new art has replaced them.

Cheering you on as you continue to recover & recuperate! Sending you lots of positive energy.

    1. Hi Ju-Lyn, I follow Debbie, too, but I don’t use my reader too much. Only two of my friends’ posts come right to my comment box. That makes them easier to read, but I have no idea how that happened. LOL

Manny travels in a box. I go by plane. He doesn’t need me to travel with him. He has been all over the world from Europe to Australia. He hasn’t been to Asia, South America or Africa yet.

    1. I’d be sad. I imagine they expect it since they painted over someone else’s work. They probably take lots of photos and have a portfolio.

  16. These are fabulous – that must be such a rich area for street art! I love the vibrancy of the first one and the subtlety of the last 🙂 The one you think looks like sunburn is surely just a dog (or goat???) bursting through something or simply surrounded by a starburst? Although why a dog is smoking a cigarette while saying Merry Christmas I have no idea 😆

    1. Hi Terri, Thank you for the kind words. Compared to most of the photographers, I feel like an amateur. Cee is teaching me how to correct some of the many mistakes I make in Bridge, and that makes me feel much better about my photos. The ones I can’t fix are the blurry ones. A friend of mine is staying with us this week. So I’m squeezing time to answer comments, but I won’t get to my WQWWC until night time. I’ll try to connect again to all my regular challenges, like Sunday Stills in that post. 🙂 Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season. Are you glad you stayed home? I think that was so smart. 🙂

      1. Oh, enjoy your friend, Marsha! Sounds like fun. Link up when you can and I will look forward to your WQW as that will be my last one until post again on Jan 9th. We are definitely staying home but we wouldn’t have left until after Christmas. Two of the places we would have stayed are both unavailable, so “no room at the inn.” It’s all good! We may try to do a spring road trip closer to Easter to include that week off from subbing.

    1. Thanks, Susan. I like both of them but I wondered after I changed it some, if I didn’t like the softer one better. Since I see softer because of life-long nearsightedness and it seems that glasses never sharpen things enough, it seems more like what I see. 🙂 Thanks for commenting, Susan.
