#ThursdayDoors: Prescott Doors

Thanks to Dan Antion for hosting the challenge of #Thursdaydoors. I know it is meant to represent doors on buildings, but doors are everywhere. Some of my doors are outside the normal boundaries of doors today.

Dan’s Guidelines

Welcome to Thursday Doors, a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing your link in the comments below, anytime between 12:01 am Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time).

Dan Antion, Host

Civil War Era Doors

You can read about the history of “The Fort,” as the Prescott, Arizona VA Hospital is called on the VA website.

This picture was taken on a foothill across the freeway.

Victorian Doors

Prescott has many homes on the Senator’s Highway on the way to Goldwater Lake. This was one I captured during Halloween season that was not decorated to the hilt.

Doors at Home

My husband loves to bring home saltshakers. While not architecturally correct, these shakers both have doors. 🙂

Now it’s your turn.

Have a fun week and weekend with your favorite photo and writing challenges and getting ready for the holidays. If you host a challenge, I’d love to interview you and spotlight your challenge.

  1. These are wonderful doors, Marsha, including the salt shakers. I love it when we extend the boundary of what constitutes a door. The :”Fort” looks like an amazing structure. I could easily imagine getting lost in that place. I love the Victorians, particularly those porches. and the salt shakers are adorable. Thanks for sharing these with Thursday Doors.

          • Don’t worry about it. I know, it gets crazy on Thursdays. You’re participation is appreciated. I have sometimes found a comment buried in the middle of the list, after someone replies to someone else’s comment.

          • Norm set me up for success, Marsha. By the time I took over, the challenge was well-established. I hope to keep it interesting, but it relies on folks like you for support (with your participation, this isn’t Pledge Week 😉

          • LOL. Norm did set you up for success. Did you two discuss it at all? It’s interesting that by focusing, you both really grabbed our interest. I went through my files last night again looking for door pictures. It’s amazing how bad most of them are. –the pictures not the doors. It’s also amazing how many opportunities to take door pictures I missed. Doors on huge buildings are hard to take so I have quite a few half-door pictures and nothing with the other half! LOL So I have some work to do before I can become a regular guest. 🙂

          • Norm only wanted the challenge to continue. He knew I was here every week, and I followed at least half of the people who were participating. I had filled in for him when he was on vacation, so I knew the drill. I’ve only changed a few minor things.

I have the same thought when I look at older photos, I missed some great doors. This community is a very welcoming group, don’t feel that you need to have perfect doors. I have posted my share of bad shots. My favorite mistake is having a picture where a tree stands right in the center of the door.

    • Hi Jo, I am having what I hope is my last surgery today. I am walking a lot, even my knee seems much better, though knees this age should never see the light of day! So far, I haven’t had it repaired, and I bend, go up and down hills, can get up and down off the floor – that’s major! Working out with a Cindy Georgakis’s video. She’s a blogger in CA. But gambolling, LOL. I love the word. Looked it up to make sure. Decorating with saltshakers is about the most fun we’ve had. LOL How are you doing?

Hi, I'm Marsha Ingrao, a retired educator and wife of a retired realtor. My all-consuming hobby is blogging and it has changed my life. My friends live all over the world. In November 2020, we sold everything and retired to the mile-high desert of Prescott, AZ. We live less than five miles from the Granite Dells, four lakes, and hundreds of trails with our dog, Kalev, and two cats, Moji and Nutter Butter. Vince's sister came with us and lives close by. Every day is a new adventure.
