This month, since TreeSquares is over, I decided to participate in Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge – (FOTD).  Like Becky B, Cee offers us the freedom to post every day or when we feel like it.  I made the mistake of classifying my trees as flowers for about half the month last month. So this month – no trees. (maybe). Cee’s FOTD challenge accepts:

Bucky’s Casino Parking Lot Overlook

As you drive along HWY 89 towards Prescott downtown, there is a sign pointing up a steep hill to Bucky’s Casino. One day I wanted to take some good pictures of the VA Hospital, and Vince took us up this steep steep road landing us on the back side of Bucky’s Casino. Not only is the view great up there. It’s like a park.

We celebrate Tanka Tuesday #240 today with a theme prompt. Lullaby. It’s the fourth week of the month!  Vashti Quiroz-Vega, from last month’s challenge, picked the theme. I’m excited about this one… it’s something we’ve never done before!

We parked, shot our pictures of The Fort, and spent the rest of our time in the Park. A Trumpet Vine announced our arrival

Once we entered, the main focus was again the views. An archway and gazebo indicated that this is probably a wedding venue. Obviously the main attraction besides the wedding couple is the view. Basic flowers added color.

The Bucky’s Casino Park

Vince and I both love roses. They were not spectacular like our Woodlake Botanical Gardens, so I cropped mine. What a difference.

This morning Cee had a photo of a hibiscus. This may be a hibiscus as well.

Wasn’t that a fun little outing? Vince is an expert at these. I sit back in the passenger seat and never know where he is going to take me – like a pampered princess. I was born for this – minus the torn meniscus. LOL 🙂

Have a great day today.

  1. I always love your tours around Prescott. We ate once at Bucky’s Casino with some neighbors. You notice I said “once.” Enough said. LOL! There’s nothing better than photos and poetry. Hugs to you, Marsha. ❤

    1. Thanks, Colleen. We never ate there. Why go inside when it’s so pretty outside?

        1. My friend played $10 on slots, came out with $30 and we left. It took all of 10 minutes. That’s my experience there. 🙂

  3. I love the red roses, but I think your last photo is of some sort of mallow – see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malva for some examples

    1. I checked out your link. It could be. Next time we go up there I’ll check with Vince’s app. Cee thought it was a hibiscus. I’m not an expert on them. Roses, yes. Thanks for the comment and taking time to look up a reference for me, Sarah.

      1. You’re welcome – let me know what you conclude after further checking. It’s hard to be sure from just one photo but mallow was definitely my first thought on seeing them although I see that Cee thinks hibiscus 😀

        1. There are definitely similarities to both.

    1. Thanks, Cee. Sarah thought it might be a mallow, which I am not familiar with. Maybe they are related. 🙂
