This month, since TreeSquares is over, I decided to participate in Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge – (FOTD). Like Becky B, Cee offers us the freedom to post every day or when we feel like it. I made the mistake of classifying my trees as flowers for about half the month last month. So this month – no trees. (maybe). Cee’s FOTD challenge accepts:

- Single flowers
- Buds
- Multiple flowers
- Bouquet
- Flower fields
- Wildflowers
- Tree or bush blossoms
- Autumn leaves
- Spring leaves
- Decorative Cabbage
- Berries
- Still life
- Fake or Silk Flowers
As I swirled through my forested universe last month for Becky’s TreeSquares, I came in touch again with my Australian trip. This month I’ll revisit only the flowers I photographed in Ballarat, Melbourne, Healesville Sanctuary and Queensland. Sometimes I might combine my post with another challenge I am doing, but I may just post one photo a day. I’ve never done that, so I’ll see how it goes.
More Floral Quilts
This month of Australia Flowers is moving right along. In one of our outings in Toowoomba I met a group of friendly quilters and enjoyed a private showing in one of their homes. Everyone in the group brought quilts to share and we took a tour of the owners quilting studio – separate from the house.
Each year these women retreat to a Bunya Mountain cottage with their sewing machines and bring their work. They also bring yummy treats (which I got to enjoy during my visit as well.) Doesn’t that sound fun?
I love the vibrant colors of all these quilts, and the playfulness of the themes. In all of them, the amount of work that went into each quilt impressed me in part because they got them done. I hope you enjoyed the my private showing of original Australian quilts.
Coming Up
Just a note. Just when you thought you had Cee’s and my weeks figured out, I will be hosting PPAC here on Always Write for the next few weeks and give Cee a much deserved break. She will continue with her regular challenges. 🙂
Have a great Wednesday.

I got the show of my life. There are lots that you’re not seeing because there aren’t any flowers.

quilting seems like such a beautiful art form, and a nice way to socialize!

It can be. My problem with socializing is that I ignore the quilting. The last time I went to a quilting party, I ripped basting stitches out of my friend’s quilt the whole time. It was much easier to do that and talk than to actually sew. 🙂

If it’s anything like a book club, I’m sure the sewing gets in the way of the wine too 🙂
