This month, since TreeSquares is over, I decided to participate in Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge – (FOTD).  Like Becky B, Cee offers us the freedom to post every day or when we feel like it.  I made the mistake of classifying my trees as flowers for about half the month last month. So this month – no trees. (maybe). Cee’s FOTD challenge accepts:

  • Single flowers
  • Buds
  • Multiple flowers
  • Bouquet
  • Flower fields
  • Wildflowers
  • Tree or bush blossoms
  • Autumn leaves
  • Spring leaves
  • Decorative Cabbage
  • Berries
  • Still life
  • Fake or Silk Flowers

As I swirled through my forested universe last month for Becky’s TreeSquares, I came in touch again with my Australian trip. This month I’ll revisit only the flowers I photographed in Ballarat, Melbourne, Healesville Sanctuary and Queensland. Sometimes I might combine my post with another challenge I am doing, but I may just post one photo a day. I’ve never done that, so I’ll see how it goes.

The Wild and the Wooly Flowers in Toowoomba

Today I had to double check that these wildflowers did not come from Arizona, they look so much like ours. It seems that 25 hours away, wildflowers are similar.

To me these look like the eucalyptus leaves that grew in our backyard in CA. I looked on the internet, and found nothing like them.

These also have an Arizona feel about them.

I captured these beautiful hydrangea growing in my friend’s yard.

Colleen Chesebro offers poets a challenge to write to a photo prompt this week. My own photos inspired several short haiku. Some people can whip out long fancy syllabic poems. I’m more of the 2-3-2 model. For more information on how to write more complex poems, check out Tanka Tuesday.

Coming Up

Just a note. Just when you thought you had Cee’s and my weeks figured out, I will be hosting PPAC here on Always Write for the next few weeks and give Cee a much deserved break. She will continue with her regular challenges. 🙂

Have a great Tuesday.

I like the shorter haiku form, and those hydrangea are beautiful…

Thanks. The short ones are simple to write – obviously! 🙂

I really enjoy doing them. I haven’t gotten into the shape poems too often, though.

six word stories and traditional haiku is about the limit of my creativity… 🙂

I haven’t tried anything as long as a six-word story for a while.

Thank you, Breanda. 🙂 The star photo is not mine, but is the prompt for Tanka Tuesday.

    Wow!
These are really wonderful. These varieties aren’t common in my town.
