This month, since #TreeSquares is over I decided to post to Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge (FOTD).  Like Becky B, Cee offers us the freedom to post every day or when we feel like it.  I made the mistake of classifying my trees as flowers for about half the month last month. So this month – no trees. (maybe) Cee’s FOTD challenge accepts gardens, leaves and berries as well as flowers.

As I swirled through my forested universe last month I came in touch again with my Australian trip. This month I’ll revisit only the flowers I photographed in Ballarat, Melbourne, Healesville Sanctuary and Queensland. Sometimes I might combine my post with another challenge I am doing, but I may just post one photo a day. I’ve never done that, so I’ll see how it goes.

August 1 Ballarat Botanical Gardens

Crassulaceae Echeveria imbricata from Mexico.

Fun to see these Mexican beauties in Australia.

Spiders and Bugs for Sunday Stills

To keep this all Australia I have to dive deep into my Australian archives, and bugs were not my top priority. At one point, they had a bit of a match-up, so I became a spectator.

I’ve never been a fan of spiders…in their own space, fine, their webs are stunning. In my space….no way Jose…lol. I once threw my back out for a week trying to avoid a spider I thought was attached to my foot…true story. Lol.

Oh no! I’m not a super fan. As long as they stay in their house and eat insects. I’m fine. When their house starts to overrun mine, they lose. 🙂 I’ve never been attacked by one, but some stings can be fatal. I always fear a brown recluse and I’m right on eliminating a black widow. Sorry insect lovers.

I’m thrilled you are sticking to your Australian theme, Marsha. I’m pretty sure that spider is a St Andrews Cross.

I decided to make a month of it, Deb. I took so many lovely pictures that I can’t fit in just a few posts.

I love the way visitors to our country often go to places those of us who live here do not. Your examples are just that! Thanks for sharing.

I forgot they were called that. I have a great shot of hens and chicks from Hawaii, but they are animals. I had to go back and look at what I posted. 🙂

Well done for both challenges! We have quite a few varieties of Crassulas in our succulent garden… I love them too.

We had a lot of them in CA. One of my friends grew the most amazing succulents on her back porch. She was always giving me baby plants in cute pots. I left them behind for the new owners, though. You should see the one I have now – it’s plastic and still has it’s price tag on it. 🙂

Your Australian flower series is off to a good start, Marsha! And then you have bugs! Yay! That spider is really interesting looking, too, with the stripes.

He posed nicely for me. The bug was a little blurry, but then he was probably dead by then. I couldn’t believe I caught the spider in the act. 🙂

Some bugs just don’t care unless the beetles want to be in your hair 😁🪲

I always like the Beetles. I went to see them when I was 13. I wanted to “hold their hand,” but I wasn’t close enough. 🙂
