My goal for this month for #Tree Squares was to start at home in Prescott, AZ and spiral away, highlighting trees farther and farther away from my home. Australia and Greece are as far away as I ever got from home. I have no pictures digitized from Greece, but trees are ubiquitous in Australia, so no worries for me.
Australia Trip #19
After spending December 27th in Brisbane, my friend Carol and I flew down to Melbourne and stayed in an Air BnB for four glorious days in the middle of summer. Just like we have in Arizona, the first night there was a monsoon or at least a very heavy rainstorm. The bus ride downtown to the parks where these trees are was watery leading to very splashy pictures. Once we got downtown, the sky had cleared and there was a touch of magic in the air.
The view from Eureka Tower provided an overview of the city landscape full of trees. I wanted to start with it even though I did not make it square. What impressed me other than the beauty of the city in general were all the trees that were integrated into the landscape.
Carol and I walked through several parks. Some of them made me breathless with their beauty.
What amazed me most is that these giant trees were not in the country, but in the middle of downtown.
Some of the buildings were old and looked like English finery.
Trees made even business buildings like the Treasury look like a national treasure.
Other buildings looked like they were not due to be built until the 22nd Century. Or maybe they were just due for takeoff. This next picture would have been great for Terri’s Sunday Stills’ theme of Geometric this week.
Hopefully I’ve covered everything. At least this path leading from one park to another is well covered. 🙂
