To join in the fun of squares this month, create your square post and include a pingback to any of my daily square posts in July. Don’t forget to use the theme’s tag – TreeSquare, and I’d love it if you left a comment.

In this month’s square’s challenge I will start at home and spiral farther and farther from our home in Prescott, AZ to share different tree species in my travels. All of these posts will work for both Becky B’s Squares and Cee’s Flower of the Day, #FOTD

California Dreaming
All the leaves are brown (All the leaves are brown)
And the sky is grey (And the sky is grey)

I’ve been for a walk (I’ve been for a walk)
On a winter’s day (On a winter’s day) .

I’d be safe and warm (I’d be safe and warm)
If I was in L.A. (If I was in L.A.)

California dreamin’ (California dreamin’)
On such a winter’s day

Stopped into a church
I passed along the way

Well, I got down on my knees (Got down on my knees)
And I pretend to pray (I pretend to pray)

You know the preacher liked the cold (Preacher liked the cold)
He knows I’m gonna stay (Knows I’m gonna stay)

Coming Up
I’ll be back at Writer’s Quotes Wednesdays in two days with a new topic of Exploration. Until then, post your comments on Terri’s post for this week’s topic of Writer’s Choice.
I’m so excited to announce that Cathy Cade will be hosting her friend Wendy Fletcher for August Story Chat. Wendy Fletcher is the leader of Cathy’s u3a writing group. For more information about Story Chat and how you can contribute, see my Story Chat page. Don’t forget that Gary A. Wilson’s story, “Sometimes a Miracle” is still open for comments.
The Photographing Public Art Challenge (PPAC) is already coming up on our fifth post right here on my blog at 9:00 am on Friday. I can’t believe it’s been over a month! Thank you all for your many interesting responses. It’s been fun to travel all over the world through your posts. Please post on Cee’s blog until Friday.

I found myself singing the lyrics as I read them because you wrote it in such a great way – although when I spotted the video I switched to them singing. So much better than me!!

What a great post title, and awesome photos to go with it.
I am greatly enjoying viewing the Tree Sqaured Challenge results!

It is a lot of fun. This is my second time of participating every day – or trying to. It is a real learning experience, and lots of decision-making, too.

Great use of the lyrics (which, by the way, are in my ear on replay now)… #treesquare

Thanks, Sarah. I kind of got that idea from Amy’s Lens-Artist Post a couple of weeks ago. I thought that was so cool. 🙂

It’s a good idea to store away. We humans learn so much from each other.

I especially enjoyed your image with the rays from heaven dispersing light near the cross and over the flower bed.
Here is my participation in a #TreeSquare that is seen in my parish Church in the state of Washington.

Songs are a lot of fun, aren’t they? I wrote to the people who wrote and sang Sedona asking for permission. I never heard back from them. I didn’t write to anyone about this one. You are the expert. Do you think that’s okay?

I think as long as you don’t publish the entire song lyrics, it’s OK.

I guess I’m okay then. 🙂

I just allowed Comments back on a really old post about Desiderata…remember that poem? It was turned into a song in the early 70s. And I did not publish the whole song either.

great lyrics to accompany your photos; were you at the Hollywood Bowl for a concert?

Yes, my friends, we called ourselves the History Girls, went to see My Fair Lady – the movie once, then we saw Hugh Jackman one other time. We had such fun. We also saw Wicked together, but not there.

writers seem to be big on community, which is wonderful to see…

You are part of many communities, Jim. I see your name in both Cathy’s and Lisa’s comments. One’s a writer, and the other more of a photographer who has done some writing. 🙂 It’s great to be part of communities.

You should do an interview with me sometime about your blogging experiences in communities.
