Terri Webster Schrandt moved to the land of sunshine in the summer months and is enjoying some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. She’s featuring the summer solstice on #Sunday Stills.
Prescott Walk #12C: Blooming Hills Drive
I take Puppy Girl out for a sunset walks to avoid the 100+ degree temps during the heat of the day and to take photos. On this occasion I was looking for trees, but came back with sunsets.
We live in one of the higher elevations in Prescott. Prescott is the other mile-high city – Denver is the larger one.
These pictures were taken at the top of Blooming Hills Drive near a roundabout that takes the road 90 degrees in a different direction. The arrow is just about where I was standing when I took the pictures. If you could see past the house in the third picture you would see a lovely man-made creek cascading down to the Prescott Lakes Golf Course, which you see on the map.
Puppy and I actually take many walks. This next set was taken on June 2nd going down the hill. The walk down to the bottom of Blooming Hills is relatively easy if you have good knees. The walk back is steep. Even though Blooming Hills Drive ends at the bottom of a hill, the elevation is still probably higher than many parts of Prescott. These next shots were taken on the far right side of the map.
Looking north from Blooming Hills Drive. The mountains in the distance are in Flagstaff. These are the famous Granite Dells. Granite Dells Looking south towards Highway 69 Looking south from the corner of Blooming Hills Drive and Prescott Lakes Parkway
The humidity here in the high desert is expectedly low – about 10 – 15%, yet the clouds roll in and tempt us into thinking there will be a monsoon. The clouds you see in all the above pictures are liars.
Yesterday right after lunch, we experienced a mini-monsoon where Touchmark is. We had already left the car show, but we got some big wet drops that came down fairly hard for a few seconds as we drove on Highway 69 at the bottom of the Touchmark hill.
