Prescott Walk # 14 Blooming Hills Drive with Sony

Since I’ve been blogging for nearly ten years and I bought my camera before that, I have been wanting to get something lighter that shoots better pictures. When I told Cee what I was thinking, she guided me towards buying a Sony mirrorless camera. Here are a few pictures I took for Cee’s Mid-Week Madness Challenge.

Blooming Hills looks pretty sparse in the winter months, then in May trees, bushes, weeds, and flowers start opening up like a symphony warming up for the summer concert in the park. This maroon plant opened up in Prescott Lakes Apartments parking lot.

This next photo came from the parking lot at our condo.

The next day I headed back down Blooming Hills to the apartments again and find these beauties as I’m taking a picture of the steep streets that lie below the row of bushes and budding trees. Even the tiniest buds are crystal clear.

    A person I knew – since they use their smart phone for everything gifted me with a Nikon COOLPIX it has a 3x zoom. I take close ups of flowers. On a walk here today (while visiting in Wisconsin) I took a photo of a bee in a Linden Tree bloom. I’m still not quite good at getting images onto my pc. But I’ll send you one I took while in NM for a wedding. Flowers are wonderful subjects 😀

    Is Vince naming all the flowers for you with his app? I just named them. The first one Desert Willow is my fave. The color is just divine.

      If I don’t know them. He looked up the Autumn Sage, I think it is. It’s the light purple one. He didn’t look it up in time for my blog post, though. I think the dark purple is lantana. We have a Desert Willow in our tiny little patio area. It has one scrappy little faded flower.

    The best way to learn how to use your new camera is to get out there and stay playing with it. You’ve done a great job with these flower photos. 🙂 We both have Panasosnic Lumix cameras and we love them.

    Hi, Marsha – Although I own several different cameras, I am a committed Samsung camera phone user. I now excluseively take photos this way (Samsung S21Ultra). This phone also has an S-pen that allows me to sign or otherwise add to my photos. Win-win!

      Very cool, Donna. I have been using my iPhone almost exclusively since we moved to AZ. It is fairly high powered. Phones are amazing aren’t they? Good to hear from you. I don’t think the iPhone has an S-pen.

            It is. I think it’s called picture this. It costs something like $30 per year, but we think it’s worth it. We only have it on his phone.

    These are fabulous images Marsha, well done on getting some tips from Cee. I have an Olympus camera which I am still learning how to use but generally these days I use my iPhone which takes brilliant shots. I’m currently doing a short online photography course with some blogging friends and am enjoying learning new skills. I particularly love that second shot taken in the parking lot!

      Thanks, Debbie. How fun to take a course with friends online. I did that with my friend Carol. We took a course with the Australian Writing Center on writing children’s books. We both learned a lot, and had great fun. I don’t think either of us have published a children’s book, but she has a new grandbaby, so who knows. She may yet. 🙂

        I did that course last year too! I got a lot out of it but haven’t pursued it as yet. I wrote a story for my granddaughter who was born prematurely at 25 weeks but just for family.

          Wasn’t it good? The instructors were tough, too. Who knew you could pack so much in to 300 words or less? I’ve attempted a few, but never tried publishing them. It’s still a struggle to show not tell, but I improved during the course. 🙂

            Yes, they were very honest (and tough) in the feedback but also fair. Show not tell us what has stuck with me the most! I learnt a lot from the course but it was also a tad overwhelming.
