Unused, neglected Parked, electric history Too expensive then © 2021 Marsha Ingrao
The Visalia Electric Railroad , Southern Pacific’s Orange Grove Route by Phillips C. Kauke tells the story from the start of the 30 mile route in 1904 until its end in 1924.
The Tulare County Historical Society members examined the caboose and debated about taking it on as a project. It sits in Mooney Gove Park on the Tulare County Museum Grounds in Visalia, CA. It’s a wonderful place to visit if you are going to the Sequoia National Park for a Vacation.
Since 1992 most of the old tracks have been abandoned, but you can still see a few on Road 196 going into Elderwood, CA, which was the end of the Orange Route.
Thanks for visiting.
