#BrightSquare 18 Cee’s Flower of the Day
“As usual for a Squares Challenge month I will be sharing squares daily, and I would love it if you did the same. However if daily sounds too daunting, don’t worry. It is fine to join us weekly or even just pop in occasionally with your squares. The frequency of your squares depends on you and also your blog. All I ask is that your image has 4 equal sides, and that it reflects the theme of bright.”
Becky B.

Believe it or not we have some beautiful poppies emerging in Prescott, AZ as well as in the California poppy state. Every day I get out with my camera, they close up for the evening. The golden hour for poppies is in the middle of the day.
I caught these beauties on the way back from running errands when I lived in Central California. There were so many along the road and they were so stunning against the unusually bright sky that I pulled over, got out and took several pictures.

These orange poppies were in our yard in Elderwood, CA.
Have a great week. terri’s back for Sunday stills

it’s always nice to see flowers growing wild along a highway…

Much better than weeds, although some weeds are very pretty. 🙂

Thanks, too bad they weren’t in bloom. You drove right by them on the way up to the Sequoia National Park. 🙂

Thanks, Lisa. The pictures don’t do them justice.

You got some really nice photos, but I understand what you mean. Photos never capture the feeling you get when you are there. 🙂

They serve to jog our memories, and, in the case of some of my old family photos, they ARE the memories.

Exactly! I’ve reserved myself to the fact that they are not going to find it and I’m hosed! 🙂

Hard to press like on than comment, Lisa. I’m so sad, I guess I’m hosed. 😦

Thanks, Graham. I do love poppies and all bright flowers. Your flowers today popped with color. I couldn’t believe I missed the little bird because I was so busy admiring the flowers. 🙂

They’re beautiful! I think we have the same kind growing wild along the rocky outcroppings on the island. A lovely, bright splash of color 🙂

I was surprised to find them here in the desert in AZ. But they are right outside my front door.

I definitely miss the California poppies, Marsha. Poppies grew wild in parts of my old neighborhood. I would have had to plant seeds in October to get them to bloom in spring and always forgot. Thanks for reminding me how pretty they are!

You won’t believe this, but we have gorgeous poppies right outside our front door. I’ll text you some pics.

Oh, I’m jealous, Marsha! But guess what? We have volunteer wildflowers popping up all over the property, called Arrowleaf Balsamroot, a relative of sunflowers! They are everywhere and are native to the West. You may have some in your area! Yay!

We have what out neighbors call Vinca. It’s not the vinca I know, but it is wild!. I’ll take a picture and post it for today’s SS.

Vincas are beautiful, my mom loved them and had pots full of them in her garden in San Diego.

I loved them in my yard, but they weren’t the same as these. They were annuals. These little beauties don’t really die out.
