Virtual Vacation to Vegas #7 Spotlights on Dreams

Smokescreens and Spotlights built our interest as we sat down in the gigantic Wynn theatre. We had no idea what was coming in the net ten minutes, and even less that in less than three weeks we would all be under lockdown.

Here we waited in an auditorium with hundreds of strangers breathing in a heavy mist with no concern for our health. It shocked us how much life could change in only a few weeks. We enjoyed the show never dreaming it would be our last one for a while.

    Your comment about our not knowing what was coming is SO true Marsha. I remember we flew to NYC in March of last year for a funeral. We met afterwards in a very crowded, too-small room with 200+ others for food and drink passed around by waiters. We all laughed at the dire predictions of the recently-identified virus in China. Within few days of our arrival at home we were not laughing any more, we were counting the days since we’d left the city and hoping we’d not been exposed. The lockdown arrived very soon after. My husband and I have both now been vaccinated but are still very cautious around others. Hopefully we’ll all remember the lessons of this past year and perhaps some good will come of it all. In the meanwhile – loved your square and its sense of anticipation.

      Thank you for your comment and compliment, Tina. I’m glad you have your vaccination. I have mine. My husband, always cautious about catching things has taken all the herbal precautions, etc.

      When we were in Vegas, we were walking up stairs and riding elevators. He said, “Don’t touch the handrails, you neve know what someone has had.”
      How little did I know then what good advice THAT was! But he doesn’t want to expose himself to the vaccine. I felt that way too. I’ve never received a flu shot because I didn’t want to have the flu as a side-effect. However, as soon as it was available, I braved my fear and took the COVID vaccine for TEAM U.S. I did have a mild response and slept for about a day and a half, had chills and felt yucky. It hasn’t changed my life any yet. We still wear masks and wash our hands, avoid close contact with people even outside. So I would say that this experience has changed the world in many ways and we don’t know the tip of the iceberg of all the changes made on our societies. Wow, I didn’t intend to pontificate, but there it is. Have a great weekend, Tina. I’ll be by to check out the new LAPC. (I thought yesterday was Saturday laready and I had missed my opportunity. LOL

      Yes it has. I may be opened up again. I heard on the news that Dodger Stadium opened for their first game yesterday. Connie is a HUGE Dodger fan. I was going to text her to see if she went, but I forgot. It almost feels weird to be ABLE to go to things. I think most people will be very cautious. One of the best things that came out of this is that when people did feel sick, this year, they stayed home instead of plowing on and infecting people in the work, market, and entertainment places. 🙂

        Because there is little to no community transfer here, we’ve been able to go to sports and shows for several months now, but we haven’t really been doing that just yet. Staying home when you’re sick is the best thing to do for sure.

          Seem s like a reasonable thing to do whether there’s a pandemic or not. 🙂 Maybe one thing we’ve learned is that the world can get along without us if we are sick. 🙂

      Thank you, Donna. I’m sure that’s why the producers did that. We all sat in silence waiting, waiting, waiting. Then something would move and you’d see something else happen. All of these show shots are from that same show, Le Reve. So when something changed, we thought, “Now?” It was fun just to see all the preliminary displays.
