Welcome to Writer’s Quotes Wednesdays
As a world we have discovered the overwhelming destruction of illness. Our world has been turned upside down and backwards. There is much we can do to stay healthy even during a pandemic. What are you doing to stay healthy?

Fitness, health and wellness is not a fad or something new.
If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.
Hippocrates
Leave all the afternoon for exercise and recreation, which are as necessary as reading. I will rather say more necessary because health is worth more than learning.
Thomas Jefferson
And we all know the Benjamin had something to say about health. I’m going to have to work on this one.
“Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.”
Benjamin Franklin
People are all the map on this topic. Most of us know that exercise, fitness and preserving wellness is a so important we should devote some time to it. That’s the ideal. Some of us don’t live up to it, but still espouse it as a goal. Others don’t.
The first time I see a jogger smiling, I’ll consider it.
Joan Rivers
Could you be one of the centerists?
So I’ve broadened the fitness concept to make it one of moderation and balance.
Kenneth H. Cooper
The way to participate in this challenge is to find a quote or use one of mine and expound on it through words or pictures. Each week I have a new topic. Find them all on my Writer’s Quotes Wednesday page.

You can either publish a post and link it to mine or leave your quote in the comment section with your thoughts or photo about it. I’ll republish the link to your post in my next week’s post.
Happy Quoting!
Thanks to Everyone Who Participated Last Week
You make my days sunny and my years happy.

Over the last year as we went through lockdown here, I started getting into fitness and looking after my health. So your post caught my eye, Marsha. I loved the smattering array of health quotes here. Really love what Hipprocrates said. Nourishment is so important, in particular our bodies getting the right amounts of nutrients. Fitness is a juggling act – you got to eat and you got to move and stay active, and also manage stress levels. I also like how Joan Rivers mentioned wellness and touched upon both maintaining physical and mental states – which is essential for a healthy lifestyle.
I started working out last year, and have been keeping that up for almost one and a half years now. Definitely gained much more strength slowly but steadily. At first I was so clumsy doing my exercises but now I think I am a bit less awkward 😄

I had a fitness trainer for almost a year before I got cancer. I was so exhausted all the time that I eventually stopped, but I definitely gained strength. One of the exercises she taught us was how to get up from the floor without using hands. It’s very hard, but I tried it just now and DID IT! Maybe I haven’t lost as much muscle memory as I thought! 🙂

Now that is something, getting up from the floor without using hands. Good on you that you can still do it. Now you make me want to try it…I do remember in school I could do it as I was quite a flexible person back then. Now I’m not so sure 😄

Hi Mabel, My husband and I went to the gym yesterday – my first time in probably five years. It felt great! He acted as my trainer and took it easy on me for the first time. 🙂

That is lovely to hear, Marsha. Hope you and your husband get to go to the gym more regularly. Enjoy working out 😊

So we will make a pact. I’ll walk at least 7,000 steps a day for the rest of this month. No more sweets, and you’ll keep your side of your bargain, and we will see how far we’ve come in our goals on May 1st.

That’s done then! What was my side of the bargain, again? 😜😂

I hope I can lose some weight! I’m hope fasting will help.

It can help! So how often do you want to fast? I try to fast for 16 hours between my evening meal and my morning meal. So if I eat dinner at 5:00, I won’t eat again until 9:00 am. I’m not sure it helps, but I’ve been doing it pretty faithfully for several months now. I forget what they call that kind of diet. But it’s fairly easy to stick with. If I get hungry at night, I drink something like bullion or tea.

It is called intermittent fasting. I did it too. The fasting I was talking about was the one we do in month of Ramadan! It’s starting on 14 th April. It will be month long fasting, from around 4:00 am too sunset.

Oh, of course. That is a HUGE commitment, both of faith and food. Our topic next week on WQWWC is faith. I wondered how that followed, but now I hope you share some of your experiences on that post! I wish you the best.

I go for a 30 minute walk every morning. It’s very pleasant. Unless it’s raining and then I don’t go, but since it hardly ever rains that’s not a problem.

We walk quite a bit. Usually it’s in the afternoon or evening. I’m going to have to take Puppy Girl for a walk pretty soon.

Great topic this week Marsha!!! Loved your quotes. Great job on your weight loss…I’ve lost 20+ pounds in the last 2 and a half years but the last 2 months have put on 8…BUT I think it’s hormonal. I’m 52, and my body, since January has been kind of whacked in regards to my cycle. Ugghhh! Trying to keep it all in perspective and not get discouraged.

No beach walk topic to share this time. On the old blog, I did a post about a beach walk of 16 miles or so on a windy day. I’ve only gained about 5 pounds in the last year – most in the past 6 months – but I try to stay active – 18K steps yesterday between walking and pickleball. … given today’s plans, much fewer today.

Wow, Frank. I’ve lost about 8-10 pounds in the last six months, but my goal is 7,000 steps a day. We’re having lunch with our new neighbors today and going early to watch them at their second pickleball lesson. That’s something we want to take up. Tomorrow, it’s off to ride Peavine Trail on our e-bikes again, then maybe to the gym. Vince is getting motivated now! This will be our fourth ride. 3 miles, 7 miles, 12 miles and how ever many we go today. 🙂 Thanks for commenting, Frank. 🙂
