March 1st marks the first day celebrating Women’s History Month. What better topic to consider than Citizenship when we learn about women in history.
Congress started authorizing Women’s History Month in 1987.
“Since 1995, each president has issued annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.”

It took some civic action to make that happen. Here is a video talking about the civic process it took to get it passed.
The Women’s History Month annual theme for 2021 is “Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing to Be Silenced.

The Suffragettes and their famous role in allowing women the right to vote for public officials could provide you with a plethora of quotes. There are hundreds of women whose names you’ve probably never heard. Below is one I’d never known.

As a blogger I live by these three quotes. I have the right to vote, but as a blogger, I own a “typewriter” and have the opportunity every time I open my computer to make myself known. And so do you. As a community of bloggers, we can make a difference in our world. And that is citizenship.

This is such a great idea (writers quotes wednesday). Maybe if I can keep in a groove of blogging again, I’ll try this…I like to keep my brain active and learn to write better and more thought out posts. Lol.

It is powerful. Think about the Revolutionary War. It was inspired almost entirely by the written word.

Only if you want to step out and do something frightening. However, I don’t think anything great happens unless we are willing to take sacrifices which may be painful. When those sacrifices are thrust on us, so much the more power we have.
