This week Frank at Beach Walk Reflections is hosting #WQWWC #11 Love. As his followers read his post, several left song titles in the comment section. The one I though of was “Who Wrote the Book of Love?” by the Monotones in 1957.

Funny tidbit, if you are old enough to remember the song, you will probably remember the commercial that inspired it.

“You’ll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent.”

Pepsodent

To join in the challenge, check out your own favorite “love” quotes and write a response on your blog. Leave a pingback to Frank’s blog, and we will both visit your blog and leave a comment.

You blog may be linked in the following week’s #WQWWC post.

Frank at Beach Walk Reflections

I coordinated this walk with Marsha’s Always Write blog and her “Writer’s Quotes Wednesday Writing Challenge” (WQWWC). Because my post is a day ahead of hers, I will link the challenge here as soon as possible. I invite everyone to return throughout the week because those who accept the challenge will pingback or list it in the comments. Also, feel free to accept her challenge.

I like walking on the beach. It is good for the mind, body, and soul – a refreshing on my feet.

I always start and end these walks with the same phrase. “Like” is the first important verb, but I could use “love” instead. Not only is love a stronger emotion than like, love may be one of the strongest human emotions.

Love is a complicated word – a word having many meanings in English. Love is a word that other languages use multiple words signifying different contexts of love. For instance, Philia, Eros, Xenia, and Agape in Greek are all love in English – but used differently. After all, we have a different love for parents, siblings, family, pets, places, friends, lovers, and activities we enjoy. At least the Greeks have multiple words for different meanings. Thank you so much for hosting #WQWWC #11 Love this week, Frank. I enjoyed your post very much including your comment section.

Have been enjoying Frank’s posts of late and was happy to see your name pop up there Marsha. As subjects/themes go, it doesn’t get much better than LOVE does it?! Who DID write the book of love ? 😊

One of the Monotones wrote the Book of Love – the Song. I’d say God wrote the real book of Love. Love is definitely a winner.

Frank’s Beach walks are quite wonderful, Marsha. I remember that song but not the pepsodent jingle. Definitely a throwback. Hope all is well with you, my friend. Muddling through extreme cold and RV issues. We’d be bored otherwise!

I’m glad you loved Frank. He has a great blog and really knows how to get people involved. We have company from Woodlake this week, and the weather is bad. No snow, but we had hail for a bit. I’m sorry I missed this week’s Sunday Stills, but I’ve been swamped. We’ve had doctor and dental appointments, too. Getting adjusted in a new place. I really like the oncologist, in fact all of the requisite appointments. I got my COVID shot #1 and have had a little reaction after about a week. I’ve heard that the next one is the one that gets you. I’m reading History Day papers for the county tomorrow and talking to my judging team on Monday or Tuesday, so another busy week. I hope your weather warms up so you can get outside. Are you into extreme sports?

Good for you that you are both settling in and now have visitors, Marsha! Weather-wise, it’s very cold and our RV is having issues but the heat works and we are cozy! Snow expected all week, sigh… Not sure if I told you, but I accepted a part-time job a Spokane Community College working with students in the PACE program, literally helping them reintegrate into the community. These students have mild cognitive disabilities but are independent enough to take college courses. I start training this Tuesday. Who really retire these days? We are getting closer to having the electrical connected and work can begin on the house soon. And yes, my extreme sport of choice is snow-shoeing, LOL! I did join Planet Fitness and can work out a few days a week, thank goodness. We have to go outside to walk the dogs every few hours! I wish you good success with the covid vaccine!

Thanks, so much. We don’t get as much exercise because we can just put her out back and clean up after her. No walk required if it’s cold and windy like today.

I think if you just include a link to someone’s post in the body of your post, you’ve created a ping back. Sorry , I haven’t been by your blog yet. We have company from out of town.

Hi Marsha – fun post for this time of Feruary! well done
and cheers to Frank for his hosting
oh and wow to the commercial – I looked up “irium” because i was cures and found this

Pepsodent was advertised for its purported properties for fighting tooth decay, attributed in advertisements to the supposed ingredient Irium. In a 1994 speech, the chairman of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, Reed Hundt, claimed that the “Irium” mentioned in Pepsodent advertisements “didn’t exist”. ” Irium” was being used as another name for sodium lauryl sulfate, an ionic surfactant.

Funny! I thing advertisers used to do that a lot. We didn’t know what it was but it sounded scientific!

I don’t remember that Pepsodent commercial, and I certainly never heard how it inspired such a classic song!

I heard the commercial – not that one in particular, but they didn’t change it into the late fifties when I was listening. I didn’t know about the connection until I read Wikipedia. You know if you read it on the internet, it’s true, right?
