Liesbet has been a blogging friend of mine for quite a while and I have enjoyed reading her posts and having her comment on my posts as well. My hat’s off to her in publishing this memoir.

Truly, I can’t imagine taking the plunge that Liesbet Collaert did. What an adventure! After reading D. G. Kay’s review, I purchased the book using the Amazon link below. I hope you will take the same plunge that I did (much less dangerous than Liesbet’s Plunge) and order her book. (no profit in this for me, BTW)

Book Blurb

Tropical waters turn tumultuous in this travel memoir as a free-spirited woman jumps headfirst into a sailing adventure with a new man and his two dogs.

Join Liesbet as she faces a decision that sends her into a whirlwind of love, loss, and living in the moment. When she swaps life as she knows it for an uncertain future on a sailboat, she succumbs to seasickness and a growing desire to be alone.

Guided by impulsiveness and the joys of an alternative lifestyle, she must navigate personal storms, trouble with US immigration, adverse weather conditions, and doubts about her newfound love.

Does Liesbet find happiness? Will the dogs outlast the man? Or is this just another reality check on a dream to live at sea?

  2. I am very much looking forward to reading Liesbet’s book (it’s on my Kindle waiting for me). I’ve been lucky to meet her and her husband multiple times in person and have enjoyed reading about her various adventures on her blog. Like you, Marsha, I’m not a sailor but I’m always up for an adventure… even if it’s just reading about one in the comfort of my living room 🙂

    1. There you go, Janis. That’s what I’m going to enjoy doing. Turn up the fire, put my feet on the couch – when we get one – and relax and enjoy Liesbet’s adventures. 🙂 Thanks for being part of my Hobby Blogging Family, Janis here on my blog, Always Write. I have enjoyed your comments and reading your posts as well. I hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season and stay safe and healthy this next year. 🙂 Virtual hugs xxxx 🙂

      1. Do you know what I miss the most (for over a decade) in this lifestyle, Marsha? A couch!

        1. LOL! We sold our couch in CA, and will have to wait to get one here. I’ll be hearing that complaint soon! Your motor home has a couch, I’m sure. We used to have a little 1976 GMC motor home – like Barbie and Ken. The owners before us remodeled it and it was so cute – all shades of turquoise, but no comfy couch. It was so uncomfortable. 🙂

          1. We have an uncomfortable dinette bench and a pull-out bed in which we can’t sit upright. Our van is only 19ft long, so to have a separate dinette, bed, kitchen, and bathroom in there is pretty unique. I shouldn’t complain. But, no couch or much comfort. Your old GMC sounds funky and cute!

          2. It was. We have had several motor homes (always used) and one trailer. My favorite of the bunch was a Toyota Motorhome. I looked them up. I don’t remember which brand we had – Chinook, I think.

“They stopped manufacturing motorhomes (at least in the United States) back in 1993, yet you still see Toyota motorhomes ALL OVER. This is a testament to the quality of these RVs. It is not uncommon for a Toyota mini motorhome to run well over 200,000 miles on its original engine.”

The couch wasn’t extremely comfortable, but I was much younger! LOL

          3. It was. We have had several motor homes (always used) and one trailer. My favorite of the bunch was a Toyota. So, I stop this promo for a Motorhome that doesn’t exist anymore, and wish you the best Merry Christmas. The Promo of Purge got a lot of traffic on my site. Yay! 🙂 Congrats!

      1. I also want to say welcome to the Hobby Blogging Family here at Always Write, Cindy. You and I have really hit it off and had some great conversations, and I’ve enjoyed every one of them. My year without you and my other Hobby Blogging friends would be dull and very homesick. As it is I’ve carried you and my other friends with me to Prescott and have felt right at home. So thank you for that. I wish you and your family the best Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year. 🙂

    1. You’re in my territory now, a motor home. I’ve had a few of those in my life and would love to do exactly what you are doing right now. Maybe we will someday. It’s on my bucket list. In the meantime, I want to thank you for being part of the Hobby Blogging Family here at Always Write. Your comments on my posts and reading your posts have added so much to my year. Where would we be during all this COVID stuff if we didn’t have our blogs? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, my friend. Take the Plunge and come see me soon before you head off in another direction! 🙂

  6. Great review, Marsha! I also took the plunge and the book is at the top of my TBR. I wish her loads of success with the book. I got to meet Liesbet twice, once in Sacramento when she and Mark were in between homesitting jobs and again in San Diego with another blogger. Once we get moved in, I will coax them up to the north in the warm summer months. I think they are in AZ at the moment. You all should meet up when the time is right!

    1. Hi Terri! I’m glad your move is moving along sweetly. 🙂 We like the Pacific Northwest, but don’t know when we will be back. Everything is Covid-dependent these days! Would love to meet Marsha in person whenever we find ourselves in the same area and conditions improve. Enjoy your holidays in Spokane!
