Patti Moed is taking us back to the basics for this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #126–namely, the ABC’s. She’s starting at the very beginning with the letter A. This challenge runs from noon on Saturday until the next Friday.
The featured picture for the post was taken in Australia of a store window at night anticipating Christmas.
Sunset pictures at Avila Beach

I wanted to create a double exposure, so I went to the guided section of Photoshop and started playing. My edition did was too old and didn’t feature the double exposure effect.
It did have some other options. The first picture is a paintbrush effect. You just wave the magic brush across your picture to give it more of a painted look.
When I saw the puzzle guided feature, I had to try it. Most of you know that I am addicted to digital jigsaw puzzles. One of the steps in the guided instructions was to remove pieces. I’m not sure what you are supposed to do with them after you take them out, but I did what most puzzlers do – laid them on the picture until I could figure out where they went. Of course we all know where they go, but I didn’t figure out why we were supposed to remove them in the first place. This is not a puzzle you can play.

The two men playing here were my blogging friend, the Eternal Traveler’s husband whom she calls Mr. ET from Australia any my husband from America. It was wonderful to have them visit us for a week and travel in the US just before the COVID restrictions hit.
Both of these pictures work for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge Sunset to Sunrise started Dec. 1.

Have fun everyone, and don’t forget to check back with both of these challenges and visit some new friends and check in on some familiar faces as well.

Love it, Marsha! Lovely Avila beach you have left behind – but open for visits! Fun puzzle effect – must try!

Thanks, Leya. Yes, we are far from the beach here. But I’ve promised all my friends that I’ll be back for visits. It’s about 500 miles (10 hours) to our home then another 3 hours to Avila Beach. It’s like blogging friends. I wish everyone was within walking distance! 🙂

Thanks so much Yvette. That was a great trip. There’s a good picture of Carol and me from that same trip on my home page. It is so fun to get together with our blogging friends. Who knows, maybe we can meet up eventually. You can’t be farther away than Australia!!! 🙂

It was, wasn’t it? For a second I thought you were talking about your week with baby. You are just collecting one wonderful week after another, you lucky grandma. You may have to get a different blog. The Eternal Grandma

Thanks, Cee They canceled the lighting ceremony at the courthouse, so I thought I’d better choose something else. I picked out about 25 or so, and narrowed it to 2. Aren’t you proud of me??? 🙂

Well look who’s early out of the A gate! Avila Beach was a wonderful subject for the week Marsha. So glad to hear you’re enjoying AZ, and once COVID precautions are lifted you can always visit with your many friends back in CA for a dose of ocean!

Yes, I finally got a post in early! It is so beautiful here, I’m still on vacation. Here we can go out to eat, unlike back in Tulare County. So with all 4+ star restaurants, we are going out a lot It was 63 and sunny here all afternoon. Gorgeous. But Avila Beach is one of my favorite places. 🙂 I look forward to seeing your A game. 🙂

Lovely photos of Avila Beach, Marsha. I bet you will miss those California beaches. I need to mess around with photoshop. For now I just continue to use the Painnt app which gives me those similar looks. Hope all is well in your new hometown!

Hi Terri, We are loving it here. It’s beautiful and sunny, so clean and people are so friendly. The only thing you have to be very careful to keep lotion on your skin or you itch constantly from being so dry. I do miss Avila Beach. I tried to get Vince to move there instead, but he wanted out of CA. So we are out, and I’m glad we made this move. I’m sure you are getting anxious by now to get the moving part behind you. I’m praying for safe travels and a wonderful experience. 🙂

AZ sounds like WA in many similar ways, with friendly people and clean air. Sunshine is little more scarce but I know our new home will be equipped with a good infrastructure to keep us warm! Its dry there too, and the water tastes fresh and cold!

You are going to love it, and it is eastern so you don’t get as much rain there as you would in Seattle or along the valley floor. The water is so clean there that they can make beer. I guess beer demands perfect water.

Even though it snows it doesn’t pile into big wet piles and they have many snowplow companies. I meant to tell you they laid the foundation and did the perimeter pour last week! I even got the invoice for the first draw.
