Birds are my least favorite subject to photograph mostly because I’m terrible at it and not very patient. And all the birds around her are either black or brown, not like the gorgeous creatures in Terri’s backyard.
I found these guys lined up in the front of the church waiting for it to start. 🙂

These vultures were waiting to snatch up my rescue kittens. Hahaha They were foiled again!

If you want to participate in Terri’s wonderful bird land photo challenge, below is the start of her post. You can read the rest by clicking on the Continue button at the bottom of the page.
Don’t forget to turn in your entries to the Carrot Ranch Rodeo #3 Contest. All due by tomorrow at 12:00 am PDT.
Sunday Stills: Kinda Backyard #Birding
ON BY TERRI WEBSTER SCHRANDTIN LEISURE, PHOTOGRAPHY, WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE
This week’s Sunday Stills’ post is partially inspired by Lisa’s Weekly Bird Challenge. What kinda birds live or visit in your backyard?
As you read in my post last week, I have enjoyed my backyard as a happy place. Not a huge backyard, but it does the job with the 5 redwood trees I planted which attract a variety of birds. The sunflower seeds and various bird feeders also attract a nice variety of birds and offer a treat to boot!

The Backyard Hums
My hummingbird feeders sing their sweet siren call to the local hummers who nest here most of the year and offer a syrupy sip.

beautiful Images. Seems there must have been a patient wait before you got the one right Marsha. Good to be here. Nara.

I’m not very patient, sorry to say. Sometimes those crazy hens take the neighborhood by storm. Thanks for the comment, Narayan.

Haha. Well then you have to be good, as those crazy hen’s nature is to be free. Thanks for being honestly sorry.

Birds generally move around too much or are two well-camouflaged, I find, but I try anyway.

Hi, Marsha – I just stopped by after visiting Terri’s blog. I greatly enjoy seeing multiple posts on the same theme. I love discovering different takes. Great shots!

Thanks for stopping by, Donna and for the nice compliments. Birds are so hard to photograph. I’m not the bird whisperer. 🙂

The turkeys are kinda funny lined up in front of the church, Marsha! Perhaps they are praying for a canceled Thanksgiving! Glad you had eagle-eyes and moved your itty-bitties in from the vulture hang-out! Great shots, timing is everything! Thanks for the shout-out, too!

Hahaha. Their heads are bowed, so maybe. They are such a funny bunch of critters. Puppy girl is afraid of them. I was just going to reblog your post, but my reblogger button didn’t work, so I had to do it the long way. Then I got into the post and before I knew it I had a short post. I’m so addicted – even when I don’t have time!

It was, and we had two sick kitties out getting some sun on our driveway as they eyed us. I swooped up the kittens, put them back in their cage, and grabbed my phone and shot a picture of them. 🙂

I’ve learned that I’m a mean, scary mama when it comes to my pets and wild animals. 🙂

Love your captures here Marsha! They move so dang fast it’s hard to get them. I sat for a long while trying to capture a white egret and it just kept moving! thanks for the clicks taken so well!

You are so kind! 🙂 I had never seen so many vultures in our tree before.

Yes, of course! OMG I get them here but good they eat all the dead cat fish so I have a reason to like them.. lol❤️

They eat all the dead squirrels, raccoons, cats, pigs, mountain lions, everything we have in the wild here. So I guess I should like them. I just didn’t want them getting close to my sick kittens. Once they got well, no worries. 🙂

Oh wow!!! I’d be worried too with the kittens around. I worried with the hawks in the trees when my kittens were little! I think they would even pick up little ones but not sure.. Hawks would for sure. 😡😜

We had one a couple of years ago who just disappeared one night. We think that might be what happened.

You are so kind, Willow. I thought they were interesting, but I was doing something else so just had time for a quick snapshot. I’m looking forward to our move when I can actually take my camera and explore new sights!!!

You’re welcome, Lisa. Would you like to do a guest post with some tips for those of us who are terrible at taking birds?

Sure, I’d be happy to. You will need to coach me up on how to do a guest post. I’ve only been blogging for a little over a year. I’ve never guest posted. I will need to schedule it as I’m on a tight schedule with the holidays getting closer. I’m spending a lot of time on my Etsy shop. 😊
