A couple of weeks ago I share Cee Neuner’s story. Where she used to look out of this window and see blue or gray skies, she now sees orange. Her description of what is going on there is frightening.

Cee's Photo Challenges

I’m sitting here looking out our TV room window at 8:18 am on September 10.   It’s a little lighter out than yesterday at this time.  The difference is that the smoke is now on the ground, which makes breathing much harder.

I took this photo just a few minutes ago with my iPhone. I can’t get it to look like it really looks outside, but it gives you an idea. The bright part is actually the light in the room reflecting. It’s more like a foggy day with orange. Even the trees across the street you can’t see clearly.

The winds are starting to shift a little bit.  The good news about that is we probably won’t be need to evacuate.  The bad news is we won’t be out of the smoke at least until Sunday.  The smoke band runs a few hundred miles out the coast and the winds…

  1. Since I wrote this post we did evacuate. We drover 1200 miles with our two pugs and 20 year old cat and a few things in our car. My sister and her husband and daughter have taken us in. We only like to changes of clothes and my insulin, food the kids, few snacks for us, my camera and lap top. Didn’t get all the power adapters but …

Looks like our house will remain safe, which is high stress taken off. The smoke and air quality. In fact my area is the worst in the world right now. So I’m glad we have evacuated.

Thanks Marsha for reblogging my post.

    1. My heart and prayers go out to you, Cee. I’m so sorry you had to go though all that, but I’m glad you had a safe place to escape to. The way it sounded I could feel your panic – no where to turn to keep everyone safe. I was frantic for you. I’m so glad you made it okay and that your house is going to be all right. I called my brother in Portland. He said that it was worst in Canby and Oregon City. He experienced the bad air, but not to the extent you had it. Keep us posted as best you can.

  2. I saw this yesterday on Cee’s blog. It’s the stuff of which nightmares are made. Oregon is on our BBC news. I do hope everyone is safe.

    1. I hope so, too, Helen. The picture looked horrifying. I called my brother who lives in Portland, and he complained about the poor air quality. Poor Oregon is getting pounded with bad things happening right now.

    1. She is very worth following, though and trustworthy. It’s nice to have someone’s email so that you can communicate with them if you want to do a project together or something. I didn’t have hers but we are Facebook friends so I messaged her. It still took several days for my message to reach her. Most people check their email regularly. Yes, our skies have been smoky for weeks. I’m ready for blue! Stay well yourself. 🙂

        1. Did you have a great walk – even in this murky air? BTW, I meant to say that Cee is thorough, not though. What is wrong with my brain sometimes? Yes, the constant emails can be annoying, but most of them go into my Promotions tab, so I browse down the list and then delete the ones I don’t want to open that day. With limited time I first want to spend my time on people who have made the effort to visit or follow my blog, which takes me to my WP Reader. Secondly, if I am interested in a challenge or something, I look at the replies in blogs I am researching. Then I look at email notifications.

          1. Ya know, I bagged it because the air quality was so bad. Today.. fingers crossed. oh we all do this and trying to manage so much creates these kind of errors. Oh promotions tab?! That’s good to know.. I’ll see if I can find that. That’s a gerat idea. I agree with you on connecting with those that we have an ongoing relationship with. Sometimes, I’m unfollowing people etc. And I can’t even find when I search. Drives me crazy. I think I’m doing something wrong in my subscription management page and I always think zi’ll make an appointment with someone from WP and I’m out of time.. such is life. Have a great weekend! ❤️

          2. Cindy, I found that at first especially caring for and managing a blog is a huge learning curve. The chat feature is very handy. I don’t unfollow people usually, but it’s easy to accidentally click unfollow instead of clicking their blog link.
