How Book Reviews Can Make History Happen

make history happen

Yes, Book Reviewers Can Make History Happen

Before you read You Read But Do You Leave Reviews? that Chris, The Story Reading Ape wrote, I want to tell you a story about an indie writer who got her big break with Simon and Schuster because of a book review.

Thousands of us sat in a Towne Hall lecture in Fresno, CA spellbound listening to this indie author tell us her story of being a single mom wondering how she was going to hold her life together after she went through a divorce. She decided she wanted to write.

Can you guess who she is?

The story of the birth of that book made me realize how important this post of Chris Graham’s is. More importantly, the work that he does on behalf of indie authors is so valuable.

Now go read Chris Graham’s post, You Read, But Do You Leave Reviews?

Thanks, Marsha, for this helpful advice. I recently wrote a review on Amazon and it was easy. 🙂 — Suzanne

Yes, it is easy! I’ve written several. So far I haven’t made history yet! Thanks for writing, and keep up the good work. If you’d love to write a guest review for Always Write, let me know. 🙂

Yes, one of the hardest things in the world for an author to do is getting a reader to post a review. It’s very discouraging.

Thanks for sharing that. It does make a difference then. It is not easy to do reviews. First there is the time to read, then to write. If you didn’t like the book, like Chris said, that is difficult. So it is a real time commitment for the reviewer.

Marsha thanks for sharing such an inspiring story; you never know who your book is going to affect enough for them to want to share it with the world. also your bio is great! 🙂

Thank you. If you are talking about Lisa, I am reading Still Alice right now. It is fabulous. I can’t imagine any agent turning it down. Thank goodness for that reviewer. She thanks her reviewer in the acknowledgement. 🙂

Thanks, Chris. I worked so hard to get it to display correctly. I was so sad last night that my technological knowledge was letting me down. But then this morning I woke up and the night time elves had fixed it. 🙂
