Internal Links Pros and Cons You Decide
Most pro bloggers promote internal links as a way to keep traffic on your site longer. Some readers do not want to be distracted by internal links.
The Definition of Internal Linking
“An internal link connects one page of a website to a different page on the same site. In an internal link, the source domain and target domain are the same.” The Seven Commandments of Internal Linking
The Reason for Internal Linking
“The basic theory is this: Internal linking strengthens the overall search-optimized value of a website. Inner linking does so by providing clear paths for spiders, prolonged sessions for users, and a tight-knit network of pages and posts.” The Seven Commandments of Internal Linking
Today I spent about 45 minutes on a vanity blogger’s site reading one 331 word post. It had 17 links. I clicked on every link. Most of the links were worth a comment, but I did not take the time to make 17 comments. Although I enjoyed my visit to Melinda’s blog immensely, I wonder how many people would take the time to follow 17 links. Keep in mind that each of those links had tons of links also.
What would you do?
How many internal links do you use in your posts?
I love to hear what you think! If you prefer, link to your post on this subject in the Always Write comment section.
