Justin Beaver and Manny spent a week together in Maui, Hawaii. They exchanged gifts each buying the other a frangipani, as plumeria are known in Australia where Justin lives with Mr. and Mrs. Eternal Traveler. Justin will probably model his frangipani on his own blog, The Adventures of Justin Beaver. Manny writes intermittently on his blog, Manny’s Blog, and when his mood strikes. He tends to be a little jealous of Justin, but not so jealous that he didn’t wear his frangipani everywhere. I haven’t been able to take it from him yet, and it’s getting rather bent due to all his rambunctiousness.A year ago I drove home from Three Rivers, CA, rounded the corner and these pieces of California’s Gold, thousands of poppies shimmering in the mid-morning sun nearly stopped my heart. I passed them, stopped the car, and walked back along the highway to take their pictures.
The poppy is the state flower, and they grow wild. We have them growing in our driveway. They do not seemed bothered that we drive over them.
These poppies seemed immune to the drought.
I’m pretty sure these are roses, but they are tiny. They grow along our fence wildly abundant in the early spring. Soon they dry up and look ugly and unkept. There are so many blossoms, it’s hard to pick them all off.
I close with this flower from Kauai, I think is a daffodil. I liked its translucence even though I think it is a little blurry.
Thanks, Cee, for a chance to show off a few of my yellow flower pictures. For more pictures visit Cee.
Have a wonderful week.
When we lived in Mississippi (zone 8/7!) I grew CA poppies in my garden. Visited there last October and saw the burned-down version of that great house. Never once thought of digging up a clump of poppies for myself, here…Hmm…
Come to think of it, that part of the gardens was probably grown up in tree roots…
They are glorious during sundown, though. Miss ’em!

I may have to add some pictures. My hubby said he had a bunch of gorgeous poppies I could use. They are gorgeous. You’re welcome to come visit us and dig up as many as you want. They are everywhere! 🙂
