Vince and I discovered tons of textures in this gem of a “Farm Stay”ย called Old Edna, the location of anย artistic townsite in beautiful Edna Valley, CA. ย Theyย offer theirย guests fresh ranch eggs compliments ofย “chicken liver coop.” ย The cottage we saw has a beautiful, functional kitchen.

The texture-laden tree house offered hospitality to some, but not to everyone.

No Girls Treehouse

I wonder if the sign applied to girl spiders.

Theย Bluebelly Barnย welcomed one and all. ย In 1887 this was Tognazzini Dairy Barn.

We arrived at closing time. ย  As we walked by this little building, out popped a flap.ย ย The owner, Pattea Torrence, said, “I’m Old Edna. ย Would you like a little tour of one of the houses? ย I’m getting them ready for guests, but you look like you are having such fun taking pictures. ย I hope you don’t mind that the bed isn’t made yet.”

Weย couldn’tย resist such a friendly offer.

The texture of the gate highlights the romantic aura, but hides the textures of the house.
The texture of the gate highlights the romantic aura, but hides the textures of the house.

First, we visited the 1897 DeSolina House, the perfect bridal suite. ย Here Pattea displayed amazing uses for garage sale finds. ย My favorite was the copper table top headboard and overhead light. ย  She mixed textures in this display in ways I would never have dreamed if I’d had ten million years to think it over.

My favorite little place was a Gypsyย wagon her dad built for her mother, Pi Pi (pie pie). ย Pattea’s father taught her that “the bond of romance can come in the form of structure.” ย I fell in love with the structure and itsย story of the many textures ofย love which it bore.

Waning sunlight adds a romantic texture to the cottage, but when Pattea opened the door, we stepped into another world of competing textures.

See Kalev’s little tail in the bottom? She wanted to add her own texture to this post. ๐Ÿ™‚

Theย auto-focus setting of my camera couldn’t bring all the varied textures into focus at the same time, butย concentrated on the fabric lining the post. I don’t know that I could have chosen either.

This was such wonderful experience, I know we will go back to Old Edna.

For more texture displays, go back to last week’s challenge.

It’s pretty tiny. One person might be comfortable there, but it would be crowded for more than one. ๐Ÿ™‚

MFR, you were in the SPAM. What’s up with that???? I’m glad I read your comments. You seem to be spamming other people, too. That is not a nice thing to do, MFR. I look forward to your comments, and to hide in the SPAM is not a good thing. Today my only comments were one comment from Dianne Gray and 4 real spammers who didn’t go to the Spammer. So stay out of the trash from now on, won’t you, MFR. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi MVBFM ๐Ÿ˜€ I have no idea why my comments on other blogs are in spam. I may have to stop commenting away from home. No, no, no, no !!! I have never ever spammed another blog. I have spammed spammers that try to comment on my blog, that’s all ! WP staff has given me a link to Akismet for them to sort it out. It’s 1am here in Spain, so tomorrow. Ralph xox โค

I had a bout of being a spammer in my early days of blogging. I may still be a spammer and am not aware of it, but I don’t write as many comments as I used to. I was so hooked on blogging that I practically stayed up all night and wrote comments, and wrote posts during the day. I just published my 575th post about the Fray. ๐Ÿ™‚ Get some sleep now. ๐Ÿ™‚ RVBFM ๐Ÿ™‚ xox

Wow ! 575 posts. Well done ! I don’t mind you trashing my comments, but please don’t spam them ! I still have many blogs with my comments in spam because of someone spammed one of my comments once. It’s so difficult to recover from one spammed comment. xox
