How could Photoshop be relaxing?  Well, for one thing it’s not 110 in my house!  That’s helpful because it is about that outside. I walked and swam this morning, but that was before 8:00 a.m.  If you are thinking about coming to see me, you might want to rethink coming in late June through late August.

I started another blog on Blogger and am specializing in history resources.  Basically I’ve taken some of the articles I have here, and revised them for that blog.  Today I decided to put some of my Photoshop classes to work.  I edited these photos in Bridge, and all I did in Photoshop was to add my name.  Can you tell the differences?  There are three.

In these I worked in Camera Raw. I pressed Auto and immediately Camera Raw saw things to correct that I wouldn’t have thought possible.   After CR made changes, I adjusted for more clarity and vibrance.  I was pleased with how they came out.

Actually I’m not sure I like the after better on this third set.   What do you think?

Amazingly, I spent hours doing this.  Then I checked my emails and realized that five hours before our new secretary for CCSS had asked me for some information.  So, I guess I spent FIVE hours.  I think I fixed lunch somewhere in there also!  Amazingly I didn’t get too frustrated, so it was a RELAXING day.  OK I did get frustrated with Blogger because it wouldn’t delete my WP slide show, but it wouldn’t show it either.  That resulted in having to completely redo the post and reinsert all my new pictures.  I forgot about that frustration!  hahaha!  You can check out that blog too, if you’d like.  I’ve had 85 views just today, and I just got it done right!  🙂  Most of them saw the bad job that I did!  🙂

Now I must stop being so relaxed and get ready for a birthday party in the next 10 minutes or so.  I have swimming hair and no make-up.  Not a good sign.  🙂   Tomorrow I’ll be relaxing looking at your blogs,  So shop around in my other posts, please and leave me some likes and comments.   Have a great weekend.  🙂  Lots of love to y’all  🙂

OH, you would ask about the cake! It was marvelous with mango filling. Apparently it came from exotic San Francisco. I snuck back when no one was looking and had a second piece! 🙂 The party was great! 🙂

When you come out here, we’ll take a trip to SF and see if we can locate the bakery. Meanwhile my heart is still in Kingsburg at the Baby Cakes Bakery on their Main Street. 🙂

Yum. Brownie is my favorite. We tried making brownies in our friend’s waffle maker last weekend after Vince watched a video about it on Yahoo. It didn’t work very well. In fairness to the waffle maker, we didn’t spray it first. Next time. We had to eat the brownies original style! 😦 ok…. 🙂

I did, and I had such a great time! I ended up with a bit more time. I’ve learned not to worry too much about being a little late, and even keeping my husband waiting. He’s learned not to mind if I come out looking nice. 🙂

Philosophically, I’m trying to decide how I feel about Photoshop. On the one hand, it feels like cheating. On the other, does it really matter how you create your work of art? I think about Ansel Adams. So much of what he spent hours, days, weeks doing, can be done so much faster using Photoshop. (I don’t think there are many who can match his eye for composition, though.) But I stare at his photos and wonder if they would feel different if they’d been Photoshopped. Some argue (and I would be one of them) that you can feel the passage of time in photos that were “hand made” with shutters being held open manually, infusing negatives with light. It’s a hard quality to describe. Digital photos that can be manipulated pixel by pixel seem to lack this feeling. But I”m not comfortable being so judgmental. I do like how you’ve changed your photos. They’ve gone from looking like the ones I take to ones taken with care. Good work!

Thanks. It depends on why you take pictures. My dad was a photographer, and he did all sorts of things in the darkroom to alter the picture – as did Ansel Adams. He cropped and even tinted black and white pictures.

Pictures themselves aren’t real. They are the perception of the photographer. Once that moment is gone, it’s gone, but a photograph cements it in our mind, and we can go back over and review the moments of our lives remembering the things around it. In the old days, the bad photographs got tossed. Bye bye memory.

Anyway, I don’t feel Photoshop is cheating. To me it’s a chance to draw given a head start. I’m pretty good at altering skies. I bet you can’t figure out which sky I altered. It’s also a learning experience. If I know what I need to do to make the picture better in Photoshop, I can start doing that in my photos.

I just enjoy using Photoshop. It’s been like a new world for me. 🙂 Thanks for the comment and for making me think! 🙂

You have really started to … play around and the results are brilliant – I had photoshop on trail for week, but we didn’t agree and for the price … went back to my free – photoscape. But with photoshop you can create magic – but I only want to increase the quality of my photos if so needed.
    Fantastic job here.

Of course I do … I need a little here and there .. more light, deepen …. more contrast … and more sharpness.
Why did you want to slap yourself … everybody does it.
When you play around with your photos, make sure you still have the original intact .. save the new once under other names.

It’s a lot of fun. I’ve take two classes through TCOE, and two from Miller’s printing online. That was really helpful after I’ve been playing with it for a while. I also had a tutoring session with Leanne Cole, a blogging friend. she analyzed about 16 of my photos, and made suggestions. That was really helpful! 🙂
