Unforgettable means never to be forgotten, remarkable in a way that cannot be forgotten such as place, events, or great memories.  As much as I forget appointments, and names these are some experiences I won’t forget.

Parasailing in Maui

I really thought parasailing was going to be much more frightening and thrilling than it was.  I waited until the two little girls that were on the boat with us went first. I figured if they could do it, I could. Vince did not want to try it.   It felt like I was in a squeaky Ferris Wheel seat that was a little too tight. Vince was the one who was really having an unforgettable time. This former Navy guy found out that boat rides on the ocean were better off forgotten.

I tend to overestimate what I might like to can do.  I assume I will like it until I try it.  The next trip to Hawaii brought me another adventure I would never forget, and so I crossed it off my to-do list forever.  That smile was pained.  Riding up the dusty mountain was difficult, coming back down and trying to keep my mare on the path with the rest of the folks instead of careening off the path in search of greenery…

Revolutionary War Military Life

The final unforgettable memory I’m going to share today was from one of the most memorable weeks of my life.  A trip with teachers from across the United States to Colonial Williamsburg.  Every minute was packed with adventures.  In this photo, we were learning how the soldiers cooked their food in outdoor ovens with a walk-around path while they were on the battlefield.  Our week included visits to Yorktown and Jamestown as well.  If you like United States History, this is a place to spend some time.

Thanks for joining me for a few unforgettable experiences.

  3. I realized when I was about ten that I have a horrible memory. Nothing that I’ve tried has improved it. Ergo, I learned to take great notes, speed reading in case I have to read something ten times to learn it……..things like that……..lol

    1. haha, me too. My memory is terrible. So photography helps. If I don’t take pictures of it, when other people are talking about going such and such a place, “Don’t you remember, Marsha.” It’s like a big blank. Of course I travel a lot, with a lot of different people. Sometimes they are remembering trips that I didn’t take, so that makes it even harder. I’m wracking my brain to try to remember a trip THEY took with someone else!!! 🙂 Brains!!! ML 🙂

  4. I really enjoyed my parasailing experience last year. It’s something I still can’t believe I did it. 😀 My donkey ride up the steep hill in Greece was really quite scary, especially as my guide lost interest as soon as he had my money. 😯 Thanks for sharing your unforgettable moments. You reminded me of some of mine that I’d almost forgotten about.

    1. I bet. If you send me a picture, I can post it in your comment like I did Ralph’s – if you want to. How old is your little girl? I saw kids of all ages at Colonial Williamsburg, but I think they get more out of it if they are at least in elementary school. They sell outfits, and many of the kids dress up just like the adults in colonial costumes. There are all kinds of things to do there. You’ll love it! 🙂 Marsha 🙂

    1. The little girls in the boat with me gave me courage! It was a lot of fun. If you’d been there with me, you’d been right up there in the seat next to me. The heights coming down off the mountain on horseback was much, much worse!!! 🙂 Marsha 🙂

  9. I have to pluck up courage to enter your blog my dear friend. I absolutely loved parasailing. I could have stayed up there all day. I must do it again sometime. But I think you are also very courageous in riding a horse. I like horses but would never ride one. So when are you going to take up skydiving ?? Ralph xox

So that’s what it looked like from Marsha’s vantage point, but she must not have had a camera.

        1. Interestingly, that was my learning experience. I copied the url from your email, and they came out mini-sized. Then I opened the files, and copied the url for the third one, and voila – huge! So I learned something. Each size has its own url. 🙂
