Dearest Friends Near and Far, * *
Your words are like snowflakes. *
* *
Falling lightly from the sky, * *
Sparkling in the hazy sun, * *
Landing on my upturned face. * * * *
* * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I try to capture your soft flakes with my tongue,
But they stick to my eyelashes instead, tickling me.
The cold turns my cheeks rosy, and my lips numb.
I can’t contain all the giggles your light touch brings.
Your airy flakes pile up, one on top of another.
I jubilantly throw myself into them, roll on my back,
Making an angel with my outstretched arms.
I jump up, and brush off, flakes flying.
mmmmmmm
My winter clothes, warmed by my thoughts,
Melt some of your flakes adhering them to me.
I bend, press the powdery fluff, making a ball.
I toss it in the air, squealing gleefully as it scatters.
mmmmmm
I roll your flakes into a tighter ball, bigger and bigger,
Patting the flakes, packing them firmly, a rotund base.
Then I gather in new flakes, and roll them into a ball.
Then join the two parts of my snowman together. Pat. Pat.
mmmmmm
A head for my new snowman, and I’m done.
Some features, decorations – a touch of originality.
I stand back grinning ear to ear, admiring my work.
I dance with ecstasy for my temporary masterpiece.
mmmmmm
So your words are to me.
Joyous, to be played with,
And share for the world to see
Innocent and full of laughter.
mmmmm
Merry Christmas to all of you, my friends and my delights,
I give thanks this holiday season to my Lord,
For all of you who bring great joy to my life.
May the Lord richly bless you and keep you.
mmmmm
Love and hugs,
Cyber and real,
Marsha Lee 🙂

I grew up in snowy weather, but rarely see it now. But when I do, even the few snowflakes that we get make me feel just like the verse you wrote. We just go out in it and start acting silly. The camera comes out too. I don’t own any snowshoes or boots anymore and my tennis shoes and socks are soaked after an hour of enjoying wandering around.
Thanks for your greeting.

Thank goodness I don’t either. In 28 years of living here, we’ve had snow one time. But we are very close to the mountains, so we see it all winter. It’s the best of both worlds! 🙂

I enjoy snow except when it interferes with plans. I have family traveling in for Christmas, and the snow just creates anxiety because of slippery roads. Now, the week AFTER Christmas, let it snow let it snow let it snow!

Yes, I didn’t like that part of having snow. When we lived in Colorado we were going slowly down an icy Colorado Springs main road 6 lanes wide, when a driver in a hurry passed us in the right lane. He slowly skidded in front of us all the way to the left lane, then back across to the far right lane, still in front of us. He landed thereon the side of the road safe and sound. It was like watching something in slow motion. There was no way we could have stopped, so we just kept on going – All shook up!!

I certainly can!!! But in California where I am I enjoy NOT having one! As kids we loved the snow. Living in Colorado as an adult, we got snow, and we had to shovel it. NOT FUN!!! I have appreciated your friendship in the recent weeks. I feel we just connected!!! I look forward to getting better acquainted as time goes by. 🙂 Marsha

I really do think that is what is missing here for Christmas, snow, Christmas needs to be cold. We are conditioned to believe that, Christmas is about snow, about short days, not hot hot days, and long long days.

hahaha, yet if December was the original day of Christ’s birth, the weather in Israel would have been????? We don’t get any snow here either, Leanne. Enjoy anyway. It’s been so nice getting to know you this year. Your become a great blogging friend, and it seems like we’ve know each other a lot longer than we have. Marsha Lee 🙂
