Avila Barn used to be just a summer place to visit, but now it’s open all year long.  I’ve been practicing taking people pictures recently.  I wanted to test my skill with kids, and since I’m a little short of family members, I asked strangers if I could snap some shots of their children.  I was surprised that no one I asked minded having their kids’ pictures taken, even knowing that I would post them on the web.

Evan is our friends’ grandson.  Evan did NOT want his picture taken, but he did want to ride on the wagon, RIGHT NOW!

He followed every move the tractor made as it toured the farm.

But he wouldn’t look at the camera!

He had to work hard not to look, though because he was having so much fun.

The rest of the kids weren’t as shy.  I don’t think I’m ready to quit my day job yet to become a professional children’s photographer, but I had a great time!

Today I’m featuring for your reading and viewing enjoyment the Mazzarella Photo blog, Forest Foward, http://forestforward.com/.  On this blog Chris, a professional photographer from Vermont, somehow stages photo shoots of critters from the Northeast in their natural habitat.   I don’t know how he got this little guy to pose, but he’s sold me! I’d like to take this little kit fox home with me, but I’m not sure Kalev would approve.  Unrestricted by genres Mazarrella’s work appears “on network television, magazines, calendars, corporate websites and advertisements.”

Review of Week One of Featured Blogs

I feature these posts for my own enjoyment as much as yours.  As I meet more and more cyber people I need a way to remember them.  I am going through my list from first followed to most recent and visiting each one.  Then, as often as I can, I will “camp out” as Russel Ray says, and choose one blog to feature for the day.  I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

    Children, eeek, they can’t stay still. Bad for the image shake. Hehehehe. Stabilizing the image is needed when it comes to children. 😀 You did an awesome job capturing them. It’s hard when it’s strangers. People will think that your a pedophile. Who to blame though, their cuddliness, their spirit, their smiles give out the best image results.

      They sure aren’t, but that’s the fun of it. My camera lens is supposed to have automatic stabilizing. I’m not sure how stable anyone is on the back of a wagon!!

    It’s lovely to see photos of little ones enjoying themselves without a care in the world. How did you do the pretty picture of the sparkling tree? It’s gorgeous.

      Thanks for noticing! I googled animated Christmas trees, and then put in an image widget. I had to paste in the url of the tree to make it work. Downloading it just gave me a little box – no tree! It took me a minute to figure out, but I think it was worth it to decorate for Christmas! 🙂

            I’m getting it too. There was a wordpress post about how to activate it. http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2012/12/03/oh-my-snow/ I don’t know if it comes up on my posts but it is snowing all over my dashboard. How cute, especially as it’s 30 degrees Celsius here, which is 92 for you!

            I know. I love it! It’s been about 60 degrees during the days here. Way too warm for snow, but nothing like your 92!

            Well Summer has just started here but the temperatures are quite high. We had our hottest December day in a decade last Friday. The children in my class just sat and stared at me with glassy expressions for most of the day.

            Six glorious weeks, starting next Friday, 14th. I’m on the countdown now. I plan to read, write, quilt, crochet and garden.

            That does sound wonderful. I’m amazed how quickly the time is flying by for me. I’ve been retired almost 4 months now, and I’ve read a few more books than I used to be able to do, finished one quilt that I thought was already done, but when I took it in to the quilter, I had to redo the border, knitted about 30 rows of a hat, and played with a blog, posting about 230 articles, and performed responsibilities as required of professional and service organizations. It’s winter, so no garden. Mostly the blog has consumed me!!! I don’t feel retired at all except that I write and take phone calls from home! I have to say, though, it’s been one beautiful, fulfilling day after another!

    It’s not easy to photograph children. You have to have one that likes to pose. I’ve run into kids that just didn’t want to be photographed.
