Spring In The Sierra Nevada Foothills

When the foothills near Woodlake, CA receive record rainfall, the wildflowers (also known as nasty weeds) proliferate.

Wild flowers with a boy. This little guy is now over six feet tall and has graduated from high school. We don’t get these kinds of rains often.

Foothill Agriculture in the Spring

Agriculture in the foothills.  The foothill area is a huge citrus area.

How are you doing this spring? Post a link to your beautiful spring photo posts in the comment section.

  1. Cherry Blossom I wouldn`t take. You find such a picture in every glossy magazine, neiter special nor typical. Foothill agriculture transports an information. The first picture I actually like because of the colours but it`s technical quality has to be enhanced and it`s a question if it fits to the colour sheme of the page.
As a professional in book desgning I can`t really give an advice if you don`t present the other pictures you would like to present on the left and right page. But nevertheless seeing the cherry blossom picture I would think: boring, because the normal reader has seen such pictures for a thousand time (f.e. in ads).
    Greetings from sunny Dublin

    • Thank you SO much for your response. I love it when I get honest feedback. I’ve been taking pictures since I was a kid, but there is a big difference between taking pictures and learning and improving. I have only been doing that in the last three months, long after these pictures were taken. It means so much to get professional advice. Thank you for your the time and thoughtfulness you spent responding.

  2. I can’t decide whether I like “Cherry blossoms #1” better or “Foothill Agriculture in the Spring”.

  3. Hmmmm. I would say the calf, but it’s the tail end. I like the cherry blossom, but it’s the most representative of the area. I think I would go with Wildflowers #1.

  4. The cherry blossoms are good and also the calves both are good but I would suggest that you gather several photos that you can present to the committee to choose from. I know the area, it is farm land. The valley produces the 12.8% the majority of produce in the United States. check out
wikipedia. with this information should help to pick a photo that represents the valley. this is just my suggestion – that is what I’d do. I know you’ll do well.jim

Hi, I'm Marsha Ingrao, a retired educator and wife of a retired realtor. My all-consuming hobby is blogging and it has changed my life. My friends live all over the world. In November 2020, we sold everything and retired to the mile-high desert of Prescott, AZ. We live less than five miles from the Granite Dells, four lakes, and hundreds of trails with our dog, Kalev, and two cats, Moji and Nutter Butter. Vince's sister came with us and lives close by. Every day is a new adventure.
