This week’s WordPress challenge is BIG. When I think of big, I usually think of an object – a big car, house, horse, dog, etc. We went to a large arts festival in Visalia, California a couple of weeks ago. Most of the festival was outside in the “big” heat. I know it was over 100 that day. We thought we would go inside where it was cooler. Inside the arts and crafts area for kids it was even hotter. But the kids didn’t notice. They were busy creating masterpieces, and making a BIG mess.

The products that came out of this Big clean up job were pretty cute. It reminded me of times with my teen-aged friends when we made sand candles, practiced cooking dinner, sewed, knitted, refinished furniture, or repainted the my mom’s living room chartreuse. Whatever we were in the mood to do, we always did it at my house, and we always made a BIG mess. I had the most understanding mom!!! Here are some more pictures of the Visalia kids’ creations.
Aren’t you glad this wasn’t in your kitchen? Have your kids ever done anything SO fun, but made such a BIG mess?

100 degrees? Where I live, when we hit 100 degrees we call it a cold front! LOL
But I love your Big Mess.

I thought about you when I posted my GMC story. Hope things are going well. 100 degree cold spell. HMMMM I don’t know too many places like that – maybe Las Vegas. My husband used to live in Bullhead City.

Looks like they were having great fun. I wonder how many adults don’t really let loose in their creativity because they’re afraid of making a mess?!

Good point! My husband is more creative than I am, and he is pretty meticulous about cleaning up after himself. My friend Carmen is VERY meticulous AND very creative. I’m pretty meticulous, but I do hesitate to be creative if I don’t want to start a mess!!!

On second thoughts, perhaps we are more afraid of doing it ‘wrong’, making mistakes or looking silly – I love the creative abandon of young kids with paint for example.

I didn’t actually talk to any of them. They were totally engrossed in their “work”. I just grabbed a few pictures and moved on. It was a pretty big festival, and it was oppressively hot in there with so many people inside. I thought it was a great showing for Visalia, though! Thanks always for commenting. 🙂
